  1. Hi all - Can anyone tell me if the magazine is free ongoing or do you have to pay for it after 12 month?? I am a member.More importantly can anyone tell me how to view an ERC low chart on line before I buy it. I don't want to buy one sight unseen

but the online shops only seem to show the area but not an enlarged view??

There used to be an on-line version of VTC's etc, but I have not been able to find them latley :(

  2. .. to that end they have been slowly reducing the compression ratio over the past couple of years. The very latest engines now have either a 0.5mm spacer under the cylinder or a 0.5mm longer cylinder to pull back the compression ratio.

    Cheers

One of the reasons for the longer Barrell in they suposedly got sick of machining the stock .040 over size commodore pistons down by .05mm.

I learnt this when I had to replace one piston earlier this year....

If you compare an unmachined piston, I had both in hand. We wondered why there was visible difference. As far as I know compression difference, is achieved by different "indent" in the top of the piston.

It makes replacement Barrells and pistons a bit tricky..

  3. Hey folks.I have an EOS 300D now. 6 Meg. Not bad. But for "rapid fire" shots, it kind of is slow.006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

Bing Ree are selling a 14.1 Meg SLR Canon camera for $569.

I like Canon cameras and would prefere to stay with them so as to not have to learn another manufacturer's menu system/layout.049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif

Sorry I don't have the model number, but saw it advertised in today's rag.

    Anyone got one? Comments?

  4. Many thanks wg, sounds like a fantastic weekend, perhaps a night at Boonah and one at Murwillumba or Cheriba. Is the Flying Tigers BBq on the Saturday or Sunday? Probably won't make it this month, as I am still plugging through the test flying hours, but will get there asap. Thanks,

    Peter

Sunday, theres one on next week,21-11 and the AGM . . .

  5. Does anyone happen to know of any quiet little bush airstrips in Southern Qld or Northern Nsw where a person can land and camp for a couple of days. A water hole would be good, some interesting country also good. Access to civilization not required. Look forward to hearing of anything you may have found. Thanks, Peter.

Theres one at Palmers Island (4NM from Yamba) in NSW ... as well

  6. Is it Ok to camp on the strip at Boonah or is there somewhere in town?

You will be made very welcome at Boonah, especially at the Flying Tigers. You can camp there short term. You'd need to arrive on the weekend for best results.

There is a Caravan park in town where you can camp longer...

No water hole but beautiful scenery.

Club facilities available during weekend and public toilets only during week.

Its a magnificent flight from here (Boonah) to Murwillumbah...

Cherabah resort, (Leave from Boonah) would be worth a look as well (They have their own airstrip), they have accomodation and cater for day visitors.

If you come during the 3rd weekend of the month you can join in for the monthly BBQ Lunch at the Tigers club!!

  7. I went to K-Mart or similar and purchased an extra-large "pencil case" Its about the size of an average notebook computer, has a "ring binder" inside to hold anything you want to punch holes in.

It fits many maps, a couple of rulers, large flight computer etc etc. Its basically a material covered folder.. and cost somewhere aroung $15.00 ...

As long as you don't mind the "sufie" motifs on the outside....040_nerd.gif.a6a4f823734c8b20ed33654968aaa347.gif It fits comfortably behind the seat or on the passenger floor...

  8. I fly my own aircraft, (Jabiru) the engine is air cooled, therfore I don't do touch and goes..... the taxi back to take of position warms the engine again ready for full power (Glide approach, cools engine)...

A number of my pilot friends won't do touch ang goes for the same reason....

In my view a full landing teaches more... A touch and go in my jab would actually be easier... I think my landings have improved due to "full" landings in practice..

  9. Thanks Wizzard for the correct Information.Your right about the outside flying schools getting a free ride.It was very early in the morning when i was talking to Ian, i must have remembered things incorrectly. Thanks for the correction.

It was going to be around $5.00 but the management decided to make the cost about the same as the nearest "cheap" airfield . . .

  10. ....The charge is i think about $5 or something per day....

Landing fees will be closer to $10.00 per landing..

(It SHOULD appear in the next ERSA).

unless you are associated with the airfield in some way... (eg an invited guest). Fees are collected by a specialised company, nothing to do with the Council..

Outside flying schools have been getting a free ride of late, and making the most of it !

  12. When you say the other material - do you mean the one from Jacksons- they seem to be suggesting that its Frontrunner? Thanks for the feedback - all helps - Jab want $1300+ for their solution - seems expensive - plus the fitting. Cheers Ian

    Ian,

Frontrunner is the same as per the attached pic. (maybe the new stuff is know as it as well) all images I found were the same as the attached pic..

The material we used has no lines in it, this makes is much easier to use. (They(Jacksons) said it is more commonly used these days.

WE paid around $15 - $20 per metre, we purchased about 3-4 metres of it. My wife installed it it took about 2 - 3 days, there is still some remaining, we have not done behind the seats, where the fuel tank is, it is painted and it is not neccessary... TTFN WARICK . . .

  13. ....Wizzard continued on to say ...." Hi Guys, I'm Tony Tecnams Cousin! You might remember Tony, he's Jabiru Joe's Neighbour...

Jabiru Joe used to get on the grog and lose is airfield".

Is that you Bronny, I thought you'd been banished by Kevin 7-24-7 to another land?".........

  14. "Geez that wasn't what I expected when I knocked on the door? I know its a while since I appeared in your never ending story" (It was Bronwin Beehop, back again) "I've been OS for a while now." " I just thought I'd take the NEW shaft drive Harley Sportster for a spin".

Bronny dropped her Ttatered Leathers on the table amoungst a pile of old AUF magazines " You need to get that door fixed anybody could walk in!"

With that who should walk in, a blast from the past.........040_nerd.gif.818f42a429bd433d10428d88b6b4d49f.gif

  15. So it starts if you can get the battery power? Ie, you can spin the engine over?

My mate has a SP3300, he has tested his, if it does not turn over fast enough (when Cold), theres no spark!

He said today that if it is under 300RPM no spark - no go....

Jabiru is working on a mod for the electrics, that boosts it cold starting, but it is suposedly? hush hush !

My mate did give his carby a thorough clean recently, this did improve the cold starting, but has not fixed it..
