  1. These have always been regarded as a GOOD trainer having things like ailerons on all wings etc If you care to look closely at how far forward and long the Undercarriage is it's going to affect ease of keeping it straight on the ground. I wonder how many are still in existence?  Nev

  2. It's an aptitude test for the adaptable and game.. It's not a thing I would bother building or owning and I certainly would not lend one out without extreme due care. I reckon it was a way of using parts from a crashed piper and getting back into the air and a unique experience at the same time.

The period I mentioned in my previous post is probably later than I posted by about 10 years just to correct the record..

Note. . You can't fly by chasing an airspeed. You have to fly by attitude.  Nev

  3. The Pistons would still be more economical than a turbo prop or Fan jet even. Would have used the now unobtainable 130/ 145   All those engines run 2 speed direct driven blowers . It's a good cruise speed so driven to the performance would put in a good Block to Block time. . Nev

  4. Lance Fletcher a LAME  at RNAC Rutherford was building one of these in the 50's I would have liked the opportunity to fly one. It would be something of a challenge when you have no wires or combing panel for attitude referencing and you are just sitting out there in space. Breezy is an appropriate name. Nev

  5. The original versions were Tailwheel but had difficulty  getting the tail up on takeoff and overran the strip due the extra drag combined with low engine thrust. They resorted to using brakes to help raise the tail but that was a bit dicey.. Early on the engine was notoriously unreliable and had a short life expectancy due to substandard materials used in it's construction.  Nev

  6. Yes he (was) keen and enthusiastic when I met  him and how he's making out is something i'd like to know. Regardless of how some (in the upper echelons) wish to regard his efforts he HAS BEEN a significant contributor to the movement.. Bagging rather than aiding innovators is the "way" the system works in Oz. We have a long history of it. (to our significant detriment) Nev
