Outboard fixed slots? Nev

The wings do a good job of lifting. Very roomy cockpit. Above 130 HP would be OK. Nev

I have quite a bit of time in 19 3676. It has a 100HP Rotax motor. Nev

There were single engines Junkers operated in PNG by Qantas. Later TAA operated services until the Hand over in the 70's. Anybody have more details? PNG had few roads and they get affected badly by the rains. All sorts of stuff was carried in those aircraft. They were superseded by Bristol Freighters when TAA took over as well as DC-3s, Dehavilland OTTERS and at least one Catalina and some light twins. This is not a complete List.
Some flights originating from the mainland flew across to LAE from Moresby( Jacksons Field) limited to Lockheed Electra DC-6 and DC-4(freight) only. Nev

Short wingspan.. Is that roll rate considered good? Nev

Great stuff. Many thanks for posting that. Nev

These have always been regarded as a GOOD trainer having things like ailerons on all wings etc If you care to look closely at how far forward and long the Undercarriage is it's going to affect ease of keeping it straight on the ground. I wonder how many are still in existence? Nev

They are large radius bends and it's cantilevered so not a great problem. The biggest bending moment is just behind the cab where it should be double thickness... Nev

It's an aptitude test for the adaptable and game.. It's not a thing I would bother building or owning and I certainly would not lend one out without extreme due care. I reckon it was a way of using parts from a crashed piper and getting back into the air and a unique experience at the same time.
The period I mentioned in my previous post is probably later than I posted by about 10 years just to correct the record..
Note. . You can't fly by chasing an airspeed. You have to fly by attitude. Nev

The Pistons would still be more economical than a turbo prop or Fan jet even. Would have used the now unobtainable 130/ 145 All those engines run 2 speed direct driven blowers . It's a good cruise speed so driven to the performance would put in a good Block to Block time. . Nev

Lance Fletcher a LAME at RNAC Rutherford was building one of these in the 50's I would have liked the opportunity to fly one. It would be something of a challenge when you have no wires or combing panel for attitude referencing and you are just sitting out there in space. Breezy is an appropriate name. Nev

Nice thing. At that stage, it's surprising it didn't have tricycle U/C. Nevf

The Hummel is a good thing but this gadget is super high tech, efficiency wise. I'd hate to have to pay for it. Not sure I'd actually want to fly it a lot as it's a bit slippery and probably touchy on an approach. Nev

On a 1/2 VW ? anyhow I though we were discussing the super fancy gadget. Nev

Where did you get "that" figure? Nev

It's a pretty TRICK design. Similar size doesn't cover it. YES I think it's possible. The craft has a large range of cruise speeds available 70 to 175 Knots. Nev
-
It's 7 Litres/Hr. If you work out the Consumption per NM it's not such a good result. Nev
-
Typo. Missed a nought. Nev

I noticed that also. Must be operating about 20knots above stall speed. Nev

How did you like the aeroplane? Nev

These days everyone gets the revs right back to save fuel on that sort of stuff. I hear some very low revs radials going over sometimes. Give an impression of just loafing along. You need a blower and CS prop. Nev

Prop tip speed and an open exhaust and probably no soundproofing. An Otter or Beaver would be able to be quieter if it's fully lined. Nev

An Aeroplane that looks right and is right. It's construction would allow rebuilding and repair although it's a lot of fabric and wood. (OLD fashioned skills). Nev

The later variations got away from the elliptical planform in any case. Nev
