  1. G'Day Tomo Have 20.2 hours all up, 2.9 solo and will be right to get cert in about another 3 hours or so. Just need to pass BAK and HF exams as well. cheers Bruce
  2. Hey Tomo What did you think on your solo when you were about 100 feet off the ground. You know what I thought. I said to myself "Bruce you are committed now" and everything seemed to work out OK. Cheers Bruce
  3. Thanks Ian Still thinking about it and wondering what will the next side of the training this Saturday bring. Cheers Bruce
  4. Tomo You are right in what you say, better off having more hours under your belt with the instructor. I did not expect to go solo on Sat but it was such a nice day and curcuits beforehand were good, so it just happened and as you say once you can judge where the ground is it just seems to click. Would like to do a bit more with the instructor before the next solo, want to do some more stalls etc just to get more practice. Would sooner do them with him rather than get myself into a situation where I have to get out of a spin or a stall. I would expect that I would need to do another 5 hours of solo and maybe 2-3 with him before I would be happy getting my licence. Guess we will see what happens. We usually have a lot of wind here in Deniliqun but the last couple of weekends that I have flown it has been really good. The weekend of the Echuca Airshow I was away and it was not a good weekend at all. I think now Tomo that we may start to relax a bit and enjoy the scenery as our training progresses. cheers Bruce
  5. Tomo You are keeping the flying in the family. Hows your Mums training going. Bruce
  6. Tomo You will be able to take your Mum for a spin yourself soon. Cheers Bruce
  7. Tomo I had about the same feeling that it could happen, had my 2 exams out of the way just in case it happened. I had 14.6 hours up before I went but still have a long way to go. How many hours did it take you. It was only the last 3 hours that I finally got the hang of the landing, curcuits were fine but just that last bit to the ground and when to ease back on the stick. They tell me that if you can land a jab then you can land anything but as I have not flown anything else then I do not know. Need some crosswinds now to continue learning. Had a heap of cross winds early in the training they seem to have settled down now. Cheers Bruce
  8. Thanks Decca I know how tomo is feeling at the moment and been reading of his progress and feel really happy for him. Bruce
  9. Good onya Tomo Been wondering when you were going to do it, I had my solo on Saturday Unreal feeling eh cheers Bruce
  10. Thanks Frank Nearly that excited but I knelt on the ground and kissed it. Not really but I was as happy as larry as I taxied back to the clubhouse. Still a long way to go. Cheers
  11. Thanks for the positive comments, I have had some weather on my side the last few weeks so it made the landings a lot easier. The test will be when I get a few more crosswinds and see what happens then. At least Don will not send me out if the weather is beyond my capabilities without him. We had a croswind a few weeks ago and the were OK. Cheers
  12. G'day All Been a while since I have posted anything here and the last one was in January this year after I had my first lesson in Deniliquin. Well today about 13.5 hours later the instructor asked me to stop and he just got out and shut the door. Before he shut the door his last words were do one by yourself. Well that is exactly what happened and I did my first solo in a Jab 160 and from what the audience said, probably my best landing yet. But a beautiful day and no wind. Feeling was unreal after completing the curcuit, landing and taxi back to the club house. Happened all too quick and was over before I even knew. Went back up for 2 more curcuits with Don and the landings were just as good. Thought that one solo curcuit today was enough. Looking forward to next stage of training and getting pilot certificate. Cheers Bruce
  13. Thanks Dave  Will keep trying Bruce

  15. 1st lesson Had the first lesson today in Deniliquin with Don. Really good, one touch and go. Will take a bit to get hang of the landings, but the use of rudder to keep plane on course and line up for final was great. I'm hooked, can't wait util next sat for 2nd go. Cheers
  16. Will let you know how it goes Bruce
