  1. G'Day Geoff I say that it would Menindee because that is what the name of the image says. But I reckon I would have asked for another clue to aks if it was north of you because of the size of the lakes around and you said that it was near you. See a lot of this country from the inside of a truck but new from the air. I was hoping that it was going to be Pooncarie or Mildura as I have actually flown into these in my 50 hours of flying. Pooncaire is a great place for a flyin, publican picked up the 1st group and then gave them his car and said bring the rest in as they land, good accom and meals plus the beer tasted good as well. Cheers Bruce
  2. Hi Geoff You forgot to put the picture in. A few of us were over your way on the 20th Mar, 11 planes flew from Deni to Pooncarie via Mildura for the weekend. Great trip, had fun in the curcuit with a virgin jet and a great massive runway, the jab 160 felt very lost on it. Cheers Bruce
  3. Hi Geoff Is it Coen. No one was going to guess so I thought that I would have a go cheers Bruce
  4. G'day Geoff I cheated as I have never been there, I had a look at where I thought it may have been on Google Earth and figured it out but I will leave it for someone who has been there to solve. Cheers  Bruce
  5. North Qld somewhere but not sure where. cheers Bruce:cool:
  6. i_dunno Hmm a little bit harder, have not been to too many airports as yet, but have seen a bit of country from the ground. Could it be somewhere east of the adelaide hills, but this is just a really wild guess. Cheers Bruce
  7. G'day Geoff Just dawned on me, the bay is there, is it be avalon. maybe:clap: The big sheds are the qantas maintenance hangers. Bruce
  8. Hi Geoff Looking at that photo got me wondering where it was, I thought that it had to be somewhere where larger aircraft used it and the big sheds. No real town close handy so has to be a large regional airport. Somewhere near the coast looking at the country. Cheers Bruce
  9. Hi Geoff this one looks a bit harder, the donald one just looked familiar landscape. Few lakes in the background, Will keep thinking, Bruce
  10. thought it looked like the mallee area, how about donald. Cheers Bruce
  11. Ross sounds like you had a great time, would be great to see that plane of yours, looks good. Doing the last of my navs next Saturday, so I should be able to be let loose sometime in the near future. Thinking doing a small Nav from Deni - Kerang - Hopetoun - Sea Lake - Deni sometime just to get a bit of experience. Been training in a Jab 160 from Tocumwal most Saturdays. A few of us are going to Pooncarie in March, I might take the jab, see what happens, will definitely put up a post of that trip here. So far 3 GA and 3 RAA planes going. Cheers Bruce
  12. G'day Ross Wish I had have seen your question on the 22nd but only looked on site last night for new posts, I'm from Deni and the Shell bowsers have been removed, I think that Aero Refuellers ( I think that is their name) will put a site in one day but at the moment they have a refuelling truck here. Also our dirt strip 12/30 been extended across 06/24, the threshold of 24 has been moved to taxi way entrance and some of the larger aircraft needed the extra distance to take off. How did your trip go, did you end up landing at Deni? Cheers Bruce
  13. Hi Tomo I have the bak and met one and think that they are both really good value at around $70 each considering what you get with both of them.
  14. You won't get lost as you can nearly see Deniliquin from Jerilderie, the local rice mill stands out for miles, not that there is any rice going into it at the moment. Cheers Bruce
  15. G'day Mike Thanks for the info, see what happens on Saturday. Still need to do that HF exam, that may be next weeks task. Cheers Bruce
  16. Steven We have miles of that around Deniliquin as far as the eye can see. Just found those Cars you were referencing on the CASA website http://www.casa.gov.au/pilots/download/vfr/general.pdf Once you know where to go it is easy. Cheers
  17. Thanks ahlocks Just need to find out what the student pilot area limit is. I have done nearly 3 hours in the traffic pattern which I assume means curcuits. Would be nice just to be able to go for a fly but that will happen soon enough when the pilot cert comes. Bruce
  18. Been there and done that with Tomo's thread, we solo'd on the same day i think but miles apart. Looking forward to getting cert shortly, instructor said 2.1 more hours solo and maybe .5 with him plus the couple of exams and I should be OK. Sons in Geelong at Uni now so would be good once I get the X country out the way to fly down and him. Some local knowledge between Deniliquin and Geeelong would be great at some stage. Lot of high country and fog between us though. Cheers Bruce
  19. No probs decca Has been a long day and might soon retire to dream more about next saturdays flying, may do a couple of hours solo and see how close I am to getting the cert. Cheers
  20. Thanks Decca I read this but I do not have the pilot cert as yet, still have about 3 hours to go. Cheers Bruce
  21. Thanks Brent It proberly is up the discretion of the instructor and he sort of said where I can see you. So with what Tomo has said about 5 nm radius would be OK. I wanted to find it in the manual so I knew how far as there could be a situation where you have to do a long downwind because of traffic, so in that case it would be easier to vacate the curcuit area and then come back. Agree Brent about a tricky and interesting question. Cheers Bruce
  22. Thanks Everyone For the comments, I will ask the instructor if I can venture out further as I know the local area like the back of my hand as I used to drive livestock trucks and know everybody's property from the ground, now I can see it from the air. Only need another 2.1 hours of solo and maybe another hour with him to practice a few more stalls, forced landing and go arounds. Nothing like practice. Cheers
  23. Just wondering how far from the airport you can fly solo before getting the pilot certificate. Looking for it in the manual and it is saying 25nm after solo before the x country. My instructor has just been getting me to do curcuits but I cannot find in the manual where it states how close to the airport you have to be. I am assuming that it would be close enough for him to see what I am doing. I could ask him I guess but I thought that I would find out for myself. Cheers Bruce
  24. Good on ya Tomo Won't be long now till you get it. I need to do my last 2 exams this week or next week. Cheers Bruce
