Hi Damian I think build will vary a far bit i know mine will be a far bit more than 400hrs. depends on so many different things, how fussy you are ,any personal changes you make eg. i,m putting a GA style dash in mine so a far bit of time will go into that,if you put in flaps ect ect. Cheers John
  10. Hi all,yes i have the colour scheme picked out bit hard to explain but the base colour is pearl with a purple {holden commadore colour} tail and wing tips with a gold flash down the fuse.meeting with the upholsterer {our club elpresendente} next week. The 650 was on my list but glad i went with the Seirra easy to build and being able to talk direct to Gary to ask any questions is a godsend..... Cheers John

  15. Hi all back from holidays and back into building ,things have a bit slow of late but the rain has let me spend time in the shed and not in the yard. finished skinning the bottom and the 2 sides today and will start on the rear deck tomorrow. Will post some pics. shortly, Will be buying a small lightweight battery drill tomorrow to use to debure as my existing 24 volt one weighs to much especially when you have drill and debure so many holes,,,, Cheers John
  16. Couple of pics of where I'm at so far. Fuse base finished, starting on controls. More pics later. Cheers, John.
  17. Sierra update Thanks Mathew first of all i chose the Sierra mainly for it's ease of construction and i will try to put up some photos later [as soon as my son shows me how] ,as for the power plant i will be using the jab.6 .Gary has done all the hard work and has all the extras needed for the jab. motor at his workshop Cheers John
  18. Hi all, drove to Taree on Wednesday to start my project, arrived earlly afternoon and Gary had me straight to work,no time to muck around.By the end of the day we had the sides made and it was time to get some sleep ,after 7 hours driving and straight into building i was stuffed.Next day started with a suprise ,Gary said we had to have some fun first so we went for a nice fly over to the coast ,great way to start the day! then it was back into it.Gary doesn,t muck around and we soon had the fuse. pulled into shape and i proceeded to fit the cross bracing but time ran out as i had to drive back to Brisbane that afternoon. We managed to get about 60% of the fuse done in the short amount of time i had there ,a testament of how easy this aircraft is to build and also having someone who knows what their doing [GARY] helping made the job easy. A special thanks to Gary for his help and advise.Shall keep you all posted as i continue the build Cheers John
  19. Gnome I'll just be doing the frame at Taree and finishing at home ,Then I'll probably go back to Taree and do the spars and finish the wings at home Cheers John

  22. Thanks Ian I know WW main intrest is teaching others to build the corvair and would love to attend one of his corvair collages, and personally i would like to build up a motor myself under the guidance of someone with experience. As i said i have lots of time to source power plant options as i'm just starting the build pro Cheers Johncess.I remember seeing your 601 in its early stages and would like to catch up and have a talk about the corvair, are you still at the same address
  23. Thanks Thanks everyone for your response ,I'm gearing up to build a Morgan Aeroworks Cheata usually powered by a Jab.6 or rotax100hp. not overlly fussed on Jab motors and rotax is overpriced so hence the intrest in the corvair. I've sent of an email to Willian Wynne last week ,but as yet have had no response. if possable i would like to buy a motor fully built by someone who knows what their doing hence the email to Mr. Wynne. I've got plenty of time to source the power plant while i'm building. Cheers John:blush:
  24. Hi all is anyone using the 6 cylinder corvair motor in their aircraft would like some feedback from any aussie pilots using the corvair .Looks a pretty good option for a 100hp powerplant Cheers John
  25. aAt this point in time i will probably build the fuse. in the factory and then finish at home.
