Well, my trip to Europe and the UK has come to an abrupt end - I am sitting in the Emirates lounge looking out over the runways at Heathrow airport - boy there is a lot of planes here.

I wasn't suppose to leave until Thursday afternoon (its Monday Morning here) and I will only be stopping in Dubai for 2hrs now instead of the 2 days.

I will post more pictures when I get home and a free minute

Well I'm back - the brain is fuzzy and the body is stuffed but it is good to be home.

Have to spend a day or two to come good, sort out a few things and will then be back into it. I have many more pictures and enough work with the "intel" gathered from the trip to fill every moment for the next 3 months but whilst the trip was worth it in an aviation sense (maybe not in a financial sense) I can say with experience that Australia would have to be one of the best places in the world.

Hi Ian,good shooting the breeze with you at the show. If you have any pix of our stand could you mail them to me via the website please.may catch you in OZ soon?

Paul

Hi Paul

I will have a look at what I have and send any to you - it's 4am and I can't seem to get out of the English time, see the things us Aussies do for you guys up and over there 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

For other members of the forums - I am looking at 2 different brands of LED lights to bring into Australia and Paul has one kind that are made in Slovakia and the other ones I am looking at are made in Germany - German Quality as they say, but LEDs come complete with all the electronics built into the light so they are simple when building a kit or replacing your lights on say your Jabiru as all you need to do is run a wire from the switch - no other boxes, regulators etc - very simple and no more replacing globes as LEDs have a huge life span. So either ones, the German ones or maybe the Slovakian ones will be available very soon - one of the results of the trip along with many other goodies to help you, your aircraft and your flying.

You're spot on there Ian. I've had a fortunate life so far and managed to live all around the world. I remember paying about AUD$1.50 lt for fuel in Europe over 10 years ago.... We've just hit that price now.:;)1: Thank god for company fuel cards.

You get a true appreciation of how good Aussie life is when you go for trip overseas.

Perhaps Howard should have given everyone a week or two o/s before the election....... maybe more would have voted for him. Perhaps Labor could adopt my idea and send us all away in 3 years time.....011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif

I'd be happy if they sent everyone over there so they can learn how to drive on a freeway!

i found the prices of most things the same if not cheaper.

I was a bit surpised at the rents in Bassano nowhere near what i expected 450 euro a month average for an apartment with modern kitchen. prices to buy where also reasonable. fuel was about the same as here and a lot of food was much cheaper. botteled water was less than half here. they seemed to have pretty much the same life as us. england is the oppersite tho'

Darren, please let me clarify. As usual I do a lot of paperwork when in a plane and thus have a lot of papers sitting on my lap. The attendant began their safety spiel and I removed the safety card and sick bag from the seat pocket to peruse in case of their need. It was at this time that we were also advised to get ready for take off so in my hurray I must have inadvertently mixed up the safety card and the sick bag with my other papers and they found their way into my brief case.

My error was not discovered till later when in my hotel room I discovered the safety card and sick bag in my briefcase mixed up with my papers. I thought to myself now how am I to get these back to the airline - being in a hotel room in a different country and where it was near impossible to find anyone that spoke English. Answer - I thought that the best person I could send them to that would know how to return them to their rightful owner as he is heavily into plane spotting and the airlines would be you Darren.

That is my story and I am sticking to it ;) - we do tend to look after people here in these forums

Well Sir through all my research today I cannot find any contact details for the airline in question so I think I will just have to 'babysit' these items for the time being.

Here you go Darren - this is your cup of tea. These pictures (apart from the first one of the English taxis) were taken whilst I was sitting in the Emirates lounge at Heathrow - crikey that is one busy airport
