Couple of rookie questions regarding Jabiru's "dual magneto high voltage transitorized ignition system" ...

 

a) Is the system totally independent from the rest of the electrical system (i.e. can it work in case of a total battery failure?)

 

b) are there any shared components between the two systems (i.e. are they totally redundant?)

They may be totally separate from the electrical system, but they are nearly impossible to prop start. they need to turn at 300rpm to generate a spark, so you will need a starter and a good battery. Forget Odyssey on a winters morning.
