Guest DonningtonSmythe
Ingham Wings and Wheels Airshow G'day folks, only just spotted this thread and thanks to Russ and winsor68 for the vote of confidence. As they mention, I formerly coordinated the Donnington Airshow at Woodstock (1986 - 1993 incl.). I am now the coordinator of this new event, the Ingham Wings and Wheels Airshow, which will be held at the Ingham Airport over the weekend of September 3-4, 2011. It will feature all aspects of aviation, from ultralights and gyros to sport, commercial, homebuilt, vintage, Warbird and possibly Defence aircraft (STC). There will also be a wide range of restored military vehicles, motorcycles, classic and performance cars, veteran and vintage vehicles, military re-enactors, trade displays and entertainment. A 2-3 hour Air Display will be staged each afternoon, with a Twilight Display on the Saturday as a prelude to the evening entertainment (Andrews Sisters Tribute Band). Pilots of all types of aircraft are encouraged to attend. Parking is somewhat limited but we'll be using the sides of the strip for GA visitors, with RA-Aus and other smaller types parked on grassed areas adjacent to the strip. Featured performers and associated attractions will occupy the hard-stand. We're using more of the airport than is normally available so don't be put off by thinking it is too small! Camping may be available at the adjacent Pony Club grounds (or alternatively at the Showgrounds) for fly-in visitors and display participants (no public!). There are commercial establishments nearby - early bookings are recommended! The airshow has only yesterday been endorsed as a fund-raising event for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) and we are hoping to make a substantial donation to the cause. Tell your friends and make a weekendd of it! :-) If you have any queries, please feel free to contact me.
