A Mate took this footage in the early 90's.

Its an awesome display of skill and trust.

NO WAY it would be allowed these days, which is a real shame.

I'd feel safer knowing our defence forces were so well trained...

Enjoy,

It's a fairly easy answer mechfx.

It costs about $7 million to sustain a young quadriplegic for life

Let's say you are a member of that audience, let's give the pilots 100% fallibility, let's give the promoter 100% for removing all overhead wires etc (which would be in the dark), let's give the guy on the ground 100% for not forgetting his act and zigging when he should have zagged.

Now let's feed in a small control bush which seizes, or even let's cast our mind back to the unexpected failure in Indonesia

The helicopter wildly flips into the crowd.

By a million to one chance you bought those seats for tonight, and you're the one whose feet they're sticking needles into

You're the one we are all looking at as they stretch you out on the board and take you to the hospital

Then of course we start clapping to get the show back on the road because isn't it such a great show. We sympathise with you but, hey everyone knows its dangerous don't they?

Who is going to foot your $7 million bill? Oh and your dearest loved one was sitting beside you; she died.

This is the type of scenario in Australia we started to grapple with in the early 1980's, there's two sides of the story, and the solution is how do you achieve the most spectacular display without causing injury or death.

Impressive stuff from the Kiowa pilot. I gotta admit thought, putting all the dangers of which we are all very aware of aside, it was good to sit back and watch that display.

The Seakings weren't too dissimilar to the Blackhawks and Rescue choppers dropping in to the Grand Finals around the country.
