Hello to Down Under!

Having taken up flying in my late fifties I am trying hard to cope with increasing age and keep flying, flying together with my wife or an old friend with whom I co own a CTLS ( after starting with Ikarus C42 and CTSW). Right now I am at the mercy of CASA waiting for validation of my PPL (I applied at the end of Dec.2011! ) and hopefully can start another flying trip to your country April 30 in a CTSW. The gross routing would be Alice Springs, Katherine, Jabiru, Batchelor, Kununurra, Bungle Bungle and via Broome to Ningaloo Reef. Another destination will be Karijini from where we should make it back to Alice via Wiluna, Leonora,Warburton, Uluru (I had flown there before) to Alice Springs. Has anyone in this great group have suggestions or hints which I would appreciate very much. We should be back by June 1 and I am aware that there is a lot of deserted country on the way.

A fine easter holiday to everybody,

Hi Guys,

thank you for your interest and comment. Came across JG`s website after a visit to Savannah`s "home" at Castelnuovo, Italy. Enjoyed his great reports , pictures and valuable information that influenced me on planning the trip. I had also flown a CH 701 in Namibia some years ago - what an experience flying in early sunlight over the dunes with no doors mounted !

Thanks again and Happy Landings,

Anselm

Hi Mark

I must apologize for writing that late - I highly appreciated your comment on my Australian plans. Now that recreationalflying has gone to Europe too I renewed my Password and just want to tell you about our trip: we rented a CTSW at Alice Springs Aero Club with the following Routing: Uluru - Giles - Warburton - Leonora - Kalgoorlie - Waverock - Northam - Pinnacles - Carnarvon - Ningaloo Reef - Karijini - Broome - Derby - Halls Creek - Bungle Bungle - Kununurra - Katherine - Cooinda - Jabiru - batchelor - Daly Waters - Tennant Creek - Alice Sp. It was a wonderful trip with mostly excellent flying conditions in a fine little aircraft fitted with tundra wheels . Having a little over a month`s time we could stop and stay for hikes and activities in most places. If it wasn`t for the expenses my wife and I would love to do a similar trip again, esp. since I managed to go through all the paperwork with licensing and ASIC.

Well, thanks again for your comment on stolspeed which filled me with a lot of enthusiasm, hope I did not bore you with my short trip report. If I can be of any help on flying "up North" - just let me know!

Cheers,

Anselm
