The cougar now at 800kg MTOW will be adding another 150kg to 950kg MTOW this will allow a 0 320 lyc and 100kg of fuel into the wings. 140kts cruise good range and 4 good size people.and will still de rig into a trailor. VH of course.

Nice to hear an Aussie company is going to compete in the mainstream arena. There will be a bit of competition from older pipers and Cessna's etc. Looking at the figures 950kg - 340kg 4x pax =610kg - 140l fuel 100kg =510kg - engine weight 110kg =400kg less prop/oils etc of say 30kg = 370kg for the airframe. Take out 2 pax at 170kg and put in a couple of kids instead and you have a nice set of numbers you can work with.It 's not easy to come up with a 4 place aircraft fully loaded[with 4 on board] with good range at only 950kg MTOW.

I would think that bigger wing tanks (wing tip tanks?) with the Lyc engine may be an idea. 140l will only give 3.5 hrs + reserve (assuming ~5-10 litre unusable). At 130 Kt cruise that is 45o NM or ~830 km.

May be worth looking into the UL Power engines FWF too as a cheaper engine option... 6 cyl 140-200 HP avavilable 100-108 kg installed. There is a dealer in Australia.

The fuse fuel tank is 100ltr, wing tanks will allow 100kg of fuel, The UL motor is still being tested in the 6cyl, where the 0-320 is a proven legend, the 3.3 jab can cruise at 130kts but better on fuel at 120-125kts ,so the 0-320 will be closer to 140kts cruise, for the RAA the 233 Lyc is a good alrounder.
