Sapphire, if what your instructor says is true he shouldn't be near any aircraft, anytime. He should have refused to go along with it. The take -off on a large aircraft is the most critical phase of flight, where the most rapid decision may be likely regarding control ( engine out) and criticality of a rejected take off (Brake to a stop from just below decision speed) and evacuate passengers to maintaining an exact speed and track and perform vital actions in the continue the take off situation, .plus handle a possible engine fire after engine shutdown and a rapid return to land.. I suppose the F/O was capable of doing all that on his own if the $hit hits the fan Eh!
