Are bluetooth Transmissions likely to affect anything in the cockpit?

Just wondering whether anybody had a definitive answer to the question of whether an active Bluetooth (2.4Ghz?) mobile phone can interfere with anything in the cockpit such as a transponder or GPS devices.

G'day Alan,

We've been using a Bluetooth GPS receiver with a PDA for moving map for about 3 years in both our Sportstar and CT4 without any interference noticed in either VHF comms, transponder or our other GPS (Garmin 296).

Cheers,

Matt.

Ditto to what Matt said. Been using one for I don't know how long and never noticed any adverse effects. Is it a definitive answer? No, but it's all I got! :)

I use a phone via bluetooth and it works great so far with no adverse effects on any electronics (Dynon 180, AvMap GPS, Xcom radio and Microair transponder), and no spurious signals or noise noticed, at least in my case. It's not definitive, but it might help.

Regards Geoff
