Don't rush a forced landing........pretty hard to think clearly.
Nobody knows how they are going to react in an emergency situation till it happens.

True ... and hard to really train for. But then we know that most forced landings end well. In this case he seems to have lost it right at the end of the process. That'd be the lesson of the story.  I tell myself to be sure to tell myself "No worries, just another landing, a bit bumpy maybe."
