i recently read an article on an x-air ultralight. in the article there was a mention of a guy by the name of John (no last name givin'). this gut , according to the article, has flown his heavly modified trike from melbourne to tassie and then to NZ:faint:036_faint.gif.544c913aae3989c0f13fd9d3b82e4e2c.gif011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif

 

anyone heard about it? has the full story been published? anyone know?

That would be John Elcock - only the melbourne to tassie part of the flight happened (in 1999 IIRC). Technical problems prevented crossing the Tasman apparently.

He did it one before in a lightwing but i am told spent a few days in jail because he didnt have the 'proper' paperwork. There were pictures in the magazines at the time of his plane with about 20 drums strapped everywhere and a complex fuel tube system. "LEGEND !"

Ben Buckley is a long-time resident of the Benambra region in East Gippsland's magnificent high country. He has previously served 12 years as an Omeo Shire Councillor including one term as president, before re-joining Local Government when elected at the March 2003 elections.

 

Ben has spent most of his working life as an agricultural and bush pilot and is well known in this field. A claim to fame in the air was flying from Australia to New Zealand in an ultra light aircraft. He enjoys being in the company of his large and extended family and is also a strong supporter of the Benambra Football Club, where he is the club's regular goal umpire.

 

Cr Buckley represents Council in the Transport and Waste Portfolios.
