I brought my Aerostar 601P into a shop in mid Florida for an overhaul, engines and airframe. The owner of the shop disappeared most of the most valuable parts except for the engines. Yes, he is in the slammer now, but I had to sell the airframe because of all it lacked. The engines were  in overhaul and were delivered from a very reputable shop in Mid Florida and are now ready to be put back on. They are both like new with all the paperwork, pistons, alternators etc. Air Power is asking $176,000 for rebuilt engines with a 26 to 30 month lead time. My engines are ready to go . What are they worth?

They're worth what you can get someone to pay for them. Is the shop backing their overhaul with a warranty? That would increase their sale value, and most prospective purchasers would be keen to find out the length and viability of any warranty offered, if any. Your major selling point is your engines are ready to go, no waiting.

Maybe the Overhauler is in a position to find a customer? How many Aircraft types have that specific  Engine?  Nev

The IO-540 is an extremely popular engine, although it comes in 90 different design variations, with 29 of them being basically similar to the S1-A5 version. The S1-A5 is 300HP, but the engine is produced in versions up to 360HP.

Perhaps the restriction on a sale of the engines is that they're counter rotating on the 601P.

A lot of  multi engines do not bother with counter rotation. Requires extra spares. Makes a bit if difference to critical  engine out  Control speeds on one side.  Nev
