I've Just Landed Too

Hi All

Well I know absolutely no-one here, or so I think.

I am returning to real flying after a 9 year hiatus and boy have the rules changed. After making the descision to start flying again, I started to investigate what I need to do to renew my license/medical cert. Then I discover that there's this new type of certification called RA-Aus, which year ago was called a restricted PPL, but now you can get a cross country endorsement and fly almost anywhere. How good is this!! I just hope I haven't lost the knack.

My last flight 9.5 years ago was my PPL check flight, which didn't go so well. My son had just been born and that was the end of my flying career. Up unitl now that is.

Anyway, I'm going to have my first flight at Temora in a few weeks, so here's hoping I can still do it. I'll keep you informed.

On a side note, I'm considering building a Vans RV12, does any know if it fits into the RA flying category?

Happy Flying

Cheers

Welcome Damian

Great to see your coming back to flying, is it possible to forget how to fly??

Might be bit shaky at first but i would think it would be like getting on a bike again after 10 years off lol

Hi Damien. Welcome to this forum. I fly out of Temora, in fact we live on the airpark. I fly a J160, but my husband is determined to get me in an RV12. He sent ne to Sun'N'Fun in Florida to fly one. Nice aircraft. It fits into the lSA category, 600 kg, so it could be registered RA-Aus unless you put too much stuff in it and go over the weight limit. He'll be building my RV12. He built his RV6, so the 12 should be a snack. Drop in for a cuppa when you are in Ytem.

Hi Cazza

I will be flying with Jill at the TFT initially until I get my GA license. I'm really looking forward to flying their Tecnam Sierra as it's completely differnent to anything I've flown before (C150, C172, Piper Warrior and Piper Arrow). I'm actually getting quite excited about the whole thing. Listen to me, I'm sounding like a little kid in a toy shop.

I'm hoping to be in Temora on the weekend of the 7th or 8th of June, I think it's a long weekend. I would love to see your husbands RV6 and actually speak to an RV builder. Are you guys going to be around?

Cheers

We'll be in Temoria because its a museum flying weekend. Come on up and see the RV (AND MY JAB!!!). Hangar with the orange windsock. By the way, Jill instructs for RA-Aus, not GA to my knowledge.
