  • I got to combine my love for flying and film making with this documentary about Ultralights that I directed while attending the Vancouver Film School back in 1990. It was shot on their Video 8 equipment, and looks like it too! :) But it did get me my first video job making a promo video for the Beaver Ultralight, which you can see here:

You had this thing called a title generator, which was a box with keyboard that plugged into the system, which usually consisted of two VTRs.... with sometimes one inch, sometimes two inch wide tape. Most of us struggled with half inch.

Lets see.... think Amiga or Commodore 64 for the computer nuts..

Most editing was of the drop edit variety, and crossfades required ANOTHER expensive box for a vision switching unit.

Prehistoric, certainly, but one that paved the way for editing at home.

Filmed at AIRFLOW ULTRALIGHT AVIATION, 4981 King George Highway, South of Surrey, British Columbia CANADA.

Visited the field after my trip to Oshkosh in 2002, no flying though. 049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif
