Guest pelorus32
I know we had a recent thread on this but I came across this this morning and thought that you'd enjoy the mental exercise. Decode the TAF and particularly the last bit of the SPECI for YBLT this morning: BALLARAT (YBLT) TAF YBLT 011840Z 0120/0208 25005KT 8000 HAZE SCT010 SCT030 FM020000 22010KT 9999 SCT030 PROB30 0120/0124 0500 FOG BKN002 RMK T 02 07 12 14 Q 1025 1026 1026 1025 SPECI YBLT 012000Z AUTO 00000KT //// // ////// 02/02 Q1026 RMK RF00.0/000.2 CLD:SKY MAY BE OBSC VIS:1000 BV:13.4 IT:09.1 Regards Mike
Thx1137
I was ok until the BV and IT. Those codes don't appear in my SPECI decoding manual. I can't seem to find definitions.
shafs64
I was fine with the first part but the rest? Shafs
GraemeK
AFAIK the BV: and IT: values are for remote monitoring of the AUTO site, and are normally stripped out of the METAR stream. BV is Battery Voltage and IT Internal Temperature I think? Rest is pretty standard.
Guest pelorus32
Thanks Graeme. As you say all the rest is pretty standard but neither my ATPL qualified mate nor I could get the last two. Great to have the puzzle explained. Regards Mike
