Inglewood Fly-in = Photo's

Recommended Posts

Here's a few pictures from the Inglewood flyin yesterday...

I had a ball walking around, and watching different aircraft do there thing... the Highlight for me was probably the flight with Wayne Fisher in the Drifter, got to do some things I don't usually get to do in the training drifter!! Like rolls, stall spins, very low flying in and around trees... it was great!! (you missed seeing me Steve!!)

Glad to see you survived your first Inglewood. Numbers seemed a little down this year. I got there on Saturday and left Sunday lunch time. Looks like you photographed all the aircraft except the most important one .... mine ;)

Hi my first big Fly in ( Inglewood) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I arrived about midday in company with two other fliers from Kilcoy we had five planes there altogether 2 Zenneth 701s 2 Savannahs and a 150 Cessna. We slept under the wings on the strip.

Saturday night found us all at the Bowling club, a leisurely 2 klm walk from the strip , the club was a little overwhelmed with all the people there hence the food took quite a while to arrive but it was most enjoyable. Another quiet walk back to the strip and had a few drinks with the Guys and Gals talking the usual bull@#%$.

The Lions Club put on a lovely dinner and drinks on Sunday night in the park near the Bowling club, they have a really interesting way of doing things, after feeding you they pass the hat around for a donation and you put in what you think it is worth and as the money goes to good causes everyone is pretty generous with their donations, another quiet walk (more like a wobble) back to the strip and bed for an early night.

There is a food van at the strip serving food all day long and once again all of the profits are used in the town for thing like lights on the emergency heliport and other worthy causes such as helping the elderly modify their homes to make life a little easier around the house.

We were among the last to leave on Monday morning and whilst talking to the organizers over a cuppa, George, the main man told us of some changes coming up for next year. As some of the land has been sold for industry. As he is a publican he hopes to get a liquor license and have a bar at the strip for next year also the council has come to the party and will open up some more land at the 23 runway end of the strip, George owns a large property bordering the dam and has said he will put in a strip so we can fly there and spend some time near the water (I have attached a couple of pictures of the dam).

Rather than us walking or driving into town for the Lions club dinner night it will be held right at the strip and he intends putting up a large screen and showing photos of the previous years fly in (he took photos of every plane at the fly in this year) George said the whole town is behind the fly in and they enjoy having us there.

I have posted some pictures I hope they turn out OK firstly a couple of the dam

The strip and town.

And some taken from 7000 ft (my first time above the clouds) I was stoked.

Lastly my Savannah at home

Ken

Mine was the only Tecnam Sierra at the do. It was parked over next near Grummo's tailwheel Jab and near the Savanah's. The attached photo is from Inglewood last year. Big difference ha?

Oh well it was nice to meet you. I was going to catch up with you after my passenger in blue left. But I couldn't find you. Sorry if I seemed a bit rude. If I had of known, I would have taken you for a fly.

I actually half had the mind to ask you if you would take my Mum for a spin, but I figured you were busy....

Cheers,

TomoYou will be able to take your Mum for a spin yourself soon.

Yes, that's probably true, but she is actually learning in the Drifter herself... so I was thinking of something a bit faster, and a time to just enjoy herself rather than constantly thinking of what to do every minute...

Hows your Mums training going.

She's not finding it as easy as I have, but she's keeping at it, which is the main thing I suppose...

With eight drifters on the field the best you could hope for would be ninth most important. numbers were down, not as many hangliders as usual, but still has to be the best flyin in the country. as for landings my vote goes to the tailwind, he was absolutely greasing it on.

G'day Merc,

Yes the tailwind certainly didn't help a lot of people... When I ask one fella why he came in downwind, he said that was the way everyone else seemed to be going, so had not much choice... and it was, someone decided on a downwind landing, and from then on that's all that seemed to happen!!

Never mind, I had a great time, the first real flyin I'd ever been to actually... and fingers crossed I should be able to fly-in next yr:thumb_up:

G'day merc, hope you and the bride and the dog had an uneventful trip home, it was good to catch up.

Yes I'm all for more drifters. Us low wing pilots need somewhere to park our chairs in the shade to avoid sunburn (which I didn't). Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye, I had a headache and just wanted to get home.

tomo, the tailwind i was referring to is the wittman tailwind, its the yellow and red high wing aircraft in your 3rd post. its a fairly slippery aircraft and he was doing some beautiful landings.

Is that what it is, Yes it certainly was a slippery aircraft, that low level pass he did was certainly fast:thumb_up:

That sounds like the start of a report in the Human Factors course;)

Yep right up there with, 'The pilot stubbed his big toe while getting into the aircraft. After climbing to 500 feet, the wings fell off". 049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif
