bushpilot
Lots of useful thoughts here - thanks to all.. We had also thought about Brumby, but want to wait and see the high-wing version that is being built....
Guest burbles1
Talking of slippery aircraft - the Sportstar is just that. I did circuits in one when I was well into my training (just before my flying test) after having flown only J160. It has a slightly faster cruise speed and a lower landing speed than the Jab. It means throttling right back on base and using flap early, as final approach is done at 60 knots. I could not land it because I was flying it too fast - very different feel. It is a very stable aircraft though for maneouvres like steep turns - and not much input required for S&L.
facthunter
High wing Brumby. I've had a good look at that. It comes up strong in all the necessary areas. Tube steel fuselage (easiest to repair) Most of the other parts are derived from the low-wing. The jabs can be repaired well and cheap at the factory, too.
