Correct. When you said what's quoted above, it sounded like you were arguing that it can only be quoted GST exclusive to another business.

Tornado I'm saying if the company doesn't make $75,000 in sales per year (don't hold me to that exact figure) they don't even need to show GST included in the price. Our family runs a small business, this is the case with us. Under our Australian Company Number and Australian Business Number, we're not registered for GST therefore we don't charge it.

GST is also exclusive if the business generates less than $75,000 in sales per year. GA flying schools are also exempt from including GST because flight training towards a CPL (150hr) is GST exempt. So yes it is perfectly legal!

 

 

Majority of GA flying schools quote flying exclusive of GST (just FYI lol), isn't GST 10%? It's pretty easy to work it out GST inclusive if they quote you an exclusive price.

I think the majority of us in this topic were merely pointing out that there could be a number of legal obligations that you'd be required to meet. No one said you couldn't or weren't capable of doing it. I was saying you need to keep a careful watch as CASA has some pretty serious rules and regs regarding money. Obviously this has been cleared up now and turns out you can do it. By all means go for it mate, it's something that you feel very strongly about and is for an extremely good cause, I think it'd be an excellent way to get donations in. :thumb_up:

Lol yeah she did. The sporty is a nice a/c, I don't really fly it much but I've noticed it has a very strange nose down attitude in cruise which makes it look like you're descending. I also find it difficult to land, it seems kind of slippery, picks up airspeed fast.

There's a guy on eBay USA that sells rebuilt Rotax engines (most with low hours), he has auctions that usually sit around 1-2k USD. They will probably sell for a little over 2k.

I'm pretty sure the rule is 100hrs or every year whichever comes first... I know this is the case with GA.

 

 

That's not fake, I've had something similar happen in the SportStar... Except I obviously didn't destroy the aeroplane. Landing at Jandakot I came in too fast and bounced, although it seemed to keep falling forward onto the nose wheel and bouncing back, it was a chain reaction and happened 2-3 times before I applied power and went around. I had a passenger on board and didn't want to mess around trying to gain control. These weren't hard bounces and I got no where near as high off the ground as he did, but enough to make me go around. Surprisingly my passenger who was experiencing her first flight in a light aircraft wasn't afraid at all and said she wanted to go again! Only had 1.8hrs in that aircraft at the time as well.

They're not all based at RAAF Pearce... There's a whole bunch sitting near The Aeroplane Company @ Jandakot (now obsolete) waiting to be sold. There's even some videos on Youtube of a few of them departing Jandakot. You need to buy two of these aircraft to make one complete A/C as apparently they're not that 'airworthy' :thumb_down:

...The only thing I don't like about this school is that they strictly divide their instructing into phases, 1 being to first solo, 2 being restricted cert. and 3 being the cross country endorsement.....

Why's this? You should be thankful they have a structured system. A lot of schools don't. $400 up front isn't bad, you're going to spend it anyway. Just save and pay it. A school with a structured system and experienced, reliable instructors is a school you want to go for...

I think everyone is trying to say that it'd be hard to do because it would be considered a commercial operation... Owen Zupp was fortunate because he held an ATPL and CASA obviously gave him an exemption. I wonder if he had to convert and get an RAA cert? The CAO for 95.55 aircraft states that CASA may give exemptions for those wishing to fly without an RA-Aus conversion.

Any GPS app that will display speed will give you ground speed. I use two apps on my Android phone called MyTracks and OruxMaps that will give ground speed. On the iPhone I believe an app called Map My Tracks will also display your speed (ground speed), it also logs your flight using the GPS.

The maximum possible climb rate in a Boeing 737-800NG is 4000fpm. That's the only bigger A/C I know the climb rate of. Obviously this was done in ISA conditions.

25nm from takeoff point. Can be any airfield. Landing at other fields without XC is a hazy area and someone more qualified will be able to clarify that for me. Most schools won't allow you to land at other aerodromes without XC though (just FYI)
