Finally got my new rego certificate and card in the mail today 15th April. Only thing it still expires on my old expiry date of 16th March 2014 even though it shows an issue date of 12th April 2013 I would expect it to expire on 11th April 2014. Good on you RAAus I have 11 months rego for the price of 12.
Quote from EGM of 9th February 2013:
"35:58 Steve Runciman look we take your point and you're absolutely right and there's two arguments if you like, why should a person who's been caught up in this, with their aircraft registration. Why should he pay, sorry he or she, why should they pay for 12 months registration and only get 10, because at the end of the day it wasn't their fault. We discussed it, we decided the best way forward with this is not to ping the individual if you like, it's totally unfair on them, as soon as they got their registration it was for 12 months. They were paying for 12 months. It's not their fault that they were caught up in this error and it's only fair on the person who owns the aircraft to get the 12 months. So we take your point. Absolutely. This CASA audit has not only cost us in time and members faith, if you like, but we've got a financial loss and we've got to run with that "
Well why didn't that happen in my case ? Looks like more poor communication between the Exec and management if it was discussed as described in the quote above. Why do these type of things keep happening in RAAus. It has certainly cost them in membere faith in the organisation. You are right there Mr President (or maybe) Mr President.

My renewal paperwork and a new set of photos sent in 15th Feb, Rego expired 16th March and still and still waiting, waitingFor me, with good advanced lodgement, the delay was from March 16 to April 4. Not bad, except it ruled out Natfly.- 1

That is good news pmcc. I think I am around similar times to you so here is hoping mine is not far away.I jus got my renewal by email. Yippee! My file is in order and all is right with the world. My thanks to the renewal team, I hope the backlog goes away soon. -
( Remember the (not so) Secret CASA Motto "We are not happy until you are not happy")
And the other one "I am from CASA and I am here to help you" Now let us get on with the audit

A new Registration Update has been posted on the RA AUS website thanks to new Tech Manager Wayne.

Friday 2 pm .... Great weather with wind from about 200.
This morning was cool and if you are from F'nQ or F'n NT you might have thought it cold.
Day is now warm around lunchtime.
Lots of aircraft flying in, with heaps of VH registrations amongst them.
That is to be expected with the current RAAUS Registration shambles. Probably the only way to fly there by next year.
Thanks Captain great pictures.

Got the same letter yesterday. How about the 'Important Notice' included. "Please disregard this letter if you have already spoken to us here in the office or if you have already sent in the required information to register your aircraft". Guess I'll disregard it as of six weeks ago. Hope mine is getting near the top of a pile on a desk too.I just got a letter from RAAus reminding me that my rego expired two weeks ago. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound! I rang Leanne, she says the letters are computer generated and come out even if the delay is caused by them. My renewal is somewhere in a pile on a desk. -
I reckon you will need a month Alf. You might be lucky.Thank god i go to work on Tuesday for a month, better have new rego label at home by the time I get back or i might be a lot peeved as the whole saga of buying the plane and getting it into my name has been going on since November, one bonus is plane is actually in my name now.Alf -
My situation is the same pmcc expired last week, sent form and photos in over a month ago. So much for the improved communications from RAAUS via the website that the president was going to do. It is six weeks since registration report No.10 was issued and that week they only managed to process 64 renewals. With 3000 aircraft on the register there will be an average of 60 more renewals every week coming in. Thats not going to decrease the backlog very much at one stage mentioned to be 400. What a Shambles. My rego renewal is now a week overdue despite sending cheque, photos and form in a month ago. I have cancelled plans for Temora and will be doing something else over Easter. -
I guarantee he won't be the only one not going to Temora because of rego issues.I hope fly down from YQDI on Thursday to join up with other Jodels, but just learned that one of our regulars is unable to go because of rego issues. Not happy. Hope I'm not the only bent-wing there! The RAAUS President said he would keep us informed about the rego debarcle on the website but the last report No.10 of 9/02/2013 was six weeks ago and it said they had processed 64 renewals that week. Considering we have 3000 aircraft on the register that's an average of 60 renewals coming in every week and if you can only process 64 in a week that is not helping to get rid of the backlog. 400 was mentioned at one stage. At that rate it will take Two years to catch up.

That goes for me too !!I hope you can get my rego done in time for the NatFly! -
Great Yenn........ looking forward to catching up with you and my mates from Gladstone.

I'll be there again weather permitting.

The return line back to the left tank in my Tecnam is shown in the fuel system diagram and described in the aircraft service manual so some manufacturers may consider it part of the aircraft.

Crosswind is not a problem usually. The wind funnels down the strip between the hills and provides extra headwind. Just don't land down hill on 30. Land up hill on 12 and even be prepared to accept up to 15kt tailwind. The slope is quite surprising after you land there the first time. Been in there many times during 1970's and 1980's in GA singles and twins when the resort was owned by TAA.Looks nice, I reckon the hills either side of the strip would make it exciting with a stiff crosswind,Met -
Looking good Biggs

Copys of the relavent pages of the current ERSA would comply with (h) (i) & (ii) aboveReg 233(h) the latest editions of the aeronautical maps, charts and other aeronautical information and instructions, published in AIP or by a person approved in writing, that are applicable:(i) to the route to be flown; and
(ii) to any alternative route that may be flown on that flight;
are carried in the aircraft and are readily accessible to the flight crew.
Penalty: 50 penalty units

Only if we get another ex CASA retiree. That's a frightening thought. -
Don't need a current BFR if you are grounded. Wait until you are flying ---eventually before you renew.gee whizz ft....that could be another can of worms just opened..............u could ask RAA..of its 'flying'membership....how many have valid/current BFR's!- 1

Have the ignition switches "OFF"So i was reading above where turning the engine with the plugs out can damage the ignition so how do yo do the purge -
Yes Bigs.5128 that's the way I did it. Got the grader in first to prepare the surface. Most of my operation now is in the Tecnam with the standard 500 x 5 and you need the surface as smooth as possible.A grader will do a better job than say a blade behind a tractor or a dozer because the blade sits midship between front and rear wheels which are further apart than a tractor thus ironing out more of the ups and downs... at least thats my experience anyways.
