  1. My AeroShell 15W50 oil has an expiry date printed on the bottom corner of the 1 quart bottles, typically 4 years from the date of either manufacture or bottling. I had to wait for a little while till Blackwoods could supply unexpired oil

(Blackwoods seem to be about the cheapest supplier I can find. I order a carton of 12 online, and there is no delivery charge if you pick it up at the counter)

(As I understand it, the SkyEcho2 would be regarded (in the table below) as an Integrated TABS; SIL=1 Is that right, Mark?)

Won't the SkyEcho2 be regarded as an EC device (ie no TCAS) device, not Integrated TABS?? It has no transponder functionality.

From their own website: The SkyEcho2 portable ADS-B transceiver has been accepted by CASA as an approved Electronic Conspicuity (EC) Device as an enhancement to "See and Be Seen" from 16th July, 2020.

See also Page 31 ff from the above CASA circular.

  3. Assuming you already hold a RAA Pilot Cert. The whole point is, that you must hold the RAA Cert to fly an RAA Airplane no matter what your GA qualifications are which I found out when I converted to RAA.

No, the whole point is about wanting to renew a LAPSED RAA certificate, and what GA ratings/endorsements would be sufficient in place of a RAA BFR to renew said RAA certificate.

  4. Mike I was thinking of maybe making the panel hinge down but havent got that far yet. I like the camlocks I have them on my cowls on the girlfriend

A builder at Gympie built his panel with drawer slides, so he simply undid 2 screws, and the whole panel slid out just like a drawer. He had to extend his wiring looms, but it was the best setup, and so easy to work on

  5. cause all the other milk had disappeared.

Unfortunately, Ginger was suffering one of his periodic schizophrenic episodes, which was brought on by the internal conflict between his red hair and blue skin,

and had accidentally jammed Rocky in the fridge, and put the milk out with the rubbish.

When the fridge was opened, however...

  6. Savs to batter

Ahhhh, battered savs - a childhood treat

Although, having visited Scotland last month, battered, deep fried Mars bars may have just taken over as my number 1, heart attack inducing confection.....

  7. How to make and decorate cakes and the occasions on which they are required. Whoops, wrong forum!

Ahhh, obviously trying to  earn more brownie points by doing the supplemental exam RAA BAKing test..........

    sorry?

  8. I was at Brick Lane today, and my has it changed - very fancy-dancy.. But there is one curry take-away still going strong - the queue outside for lunch was longer and there were more people buying from them than the fancy-dancy bistros around it combined...

I am going to hurt tomorrow ?

I'm off to London in June, and Brick Lane is on our list.  What's the name of said curry emporium? I am always on the lookout for a great recommendation

  9. Lion air and latest crash had similar flight profiles, similar aircraft behaviour, similar (identical?) model aircraft, similar outcomes - high speed crash into sea/terrain.

Data from FlightAware for ET302 showed terminal speed 383 knots,2600ft/minute decent, after fluctuations in height and speed.

Seems like you can point to a similar cause between lion air and the latest crash

  10. I have about 350 hrs on 98 in my 2200. All good. I keep the tank half full and top up each time I fly with the amount I will need for the flight. Ken

I manage fuel in the same way with my Jab 2200 (similar hours) and have had no issues to report. There is a second Jab in my hangar, does the same, and he doesnt have any probs either. Seems like 98 is OK for the 2200.

If I'm away for any length of time (more than 4 weeks), I try to use up as much fuel as is prudent, and when I fly next, put a large quantity of new fuel in both tanks, and make sure I give the engine a good warm up period.
