  4. Finally finished my S model with a cheer from my lovely wife. She has been very patient in the last 5 years as I've built 3 Savy's for myself with a hand in a couple more. She has said this is the last or this is a divorce. So I started this project with stuff it I'll build it with everything I've every wanted. So I started the build then ordered a Dynon Skyview with autopilot then ordered a constant speed prop, xcom VHF with UHF, strobe lights and decided to do a smick paint job. That's when trouble started, I decided I liked the colour of the commodore green so I went to town to get a quote. I fell over at the price $900 a litre tried different paint shops they had the same answer so I decided to go with morphous purple with a metallic flec in it. Then I wanted the white to be a pearl colour. I painted the last two planes myself with a good outcome but this was a different system so I thought the smart thing would be to employ a precessional. After two days and 30+ runs I sacked him and decided I'd do it myself. Don't think if your paying good money you'll get a good job. Any how after 6 months juggling my job and our first baby boy it's finally finished (well ready to fly). I still got plenty of stuff to customize to suit me. It was checked over by a LAME who said I'd done a great job, sent all paper work into Raaus at easter. They did an excellent job in getting the ok to fly back to me in short time considering most of them were at Temora. So late on Tuesday arvo I decided it was time to test this bird. It's hard to put into words the first flight of a plane that you've built or assembled as theres not that many people get the chance. It was a wonderful experience. So I did a close circuit came in for a text book landing. I only ever do a circuit then I go and have a cuppa to settle down and reaccess all that has happen. Then I go all over the plane again looking for any problems then I fly above the airfield checking out it parameters. The only problem so far is it was getting a bit hot. I since realize now the cutting an inch off the bottom of the cowl was a mistake as it helps draw air through. Now is the big learning curve how to use the Skyview. It is a wonderful instrument as it's got so much info and when some thing is wrong it flashes red. Anyhow I should keep u posted on some facts and figures as to performance against the VG model. Savannah for sale

The price is around $59000 and as for photos you can pm me with your email address and I email them to you as I got no idea how to post them. I have put 40 hours on this plane and it flies very well. It's a very good price for a great plane.
  6. Sales pitch. I've built a slatted version (without slats, with stolspeed vg) now I've finished a vg version. I have flown a xl version too, there's no difference in performance maybe a knot here or there. When you weigh them it's 3 or 4 kilos heavier for the xl. Sale pitch all I say:sad:

I remember seeing in a Raaus magazine a few months back a add for a plane called Land Africa it looks like a copy of the Savannah with wing tips on it. Don't know how many are in Oz or how many built but I remember looking at there web site and it stated a MTOW of 450kg not much good here in Oz.
  8. Good to see u here Reg there's a lot of good info here just need time to sift through it ova n out Gundy:clap:

  12. Welcome Gazzawh I've only just joined the forum myself I own a Savannah My self they are a great plane will catch you at a Short or long piece of landing strip soon Gundy
  13. Yes Gazzawh it was me and thank you very much it got me out of trouble. It was the first of a couple of problems on the way down. The next was I needed a jump start at Gatton airpark then we landed on a private farm in Goondiwindi. It rained that night 25mm so it meant the black soil was soaked. We made some skids out of a truck bumper bar and drag my plane 800mtr through mud to a hard road so we could take off. Then the last was Tomgun(Tommo) put my hamburger in the fridge before he gave it to me (he said something about bacteria). The rest of the trip went extremly well. Gundy
  14. Walter Monto is holding a Fly-in on 24th/25th April. This is also the Monto Show Weekend so it will be a big one. All the same rules apply as for the last one from last year. I will try to get more info shortly in regards to co-ords etc. Gundy
  15. Thanks Walter I'm very proud of it and it flys straight too. It took me a while to think up a good design to break up the box look the Savannah has. Were you in Temora at Easter? I should be heading over to the Monto flyin on Anzac weekend if your there we will catch up. Ova n out Gundy
  16. No Decca I grew up in Goondiwindi and the nickname stuck. I don't know how to post a photo yet but as soon as I know there will be sum up. Gundy
  17. Tommo I can't believe you forgot who I am, you took my seat in the cab at Narromine I ended up with a cold hamburger waiting for u guys haha. My Savannah was on Savannah site at Temora. I was hoping you got a good photo of it with that big flash camera of yours. Mark I built the last Savannah to keep but a bloke saw it and feel in love with it so we negoiated a price now he owns it. It lives about 50 miles from here. I think this one looks better though:)
