Neither gender nor age should discourage you from adventure. Learning something as complex as driving a flying machine will have its ups and downs but if you are keen to succeed and willing to keep learning, you will succeed. And it is so very rewarding.

  2. This survey is a great opportunity for everyone to tell RAAus in no uncertain terms, what we think about all the stuff I see posters here complaining about:-

The push for CTA (access or transit only, and under what proviso)

The push for 1500kg MTOW (or other weight, and under what conditions)

The lack of feedback after a survey

The lack of information to confirm what policy or rule changes are (or are not) happening.

    Etc.......

Don't complain about the survey. Just do it.

  3. The wide screen in-flight entertainment enhancement. You wouldn't want your passenger to get bored would you?

    PS,

BP, I hope you have a safe storage for the remote control. It could end badly if your passenger drops it.

As for the aerodynamics, that screen is just like a big vortex generator. Scaled up to work at "drifter speed". Might make the drifter even easier to land short?

  4. Our local coffee shop has a sign over the pissoir. It reads...

"Please consider our neighbours when you leave. Minimise the noise.

Harley riders, this does apply to you, too."

Furthermore, I'm annoyed. When I got knocked back on a roadworthy because my exhaust was 6Db too loud, I pointed out that most HD's were louder, he said "Yeah, I know. But they're Harley's". Grrr!

  5. I've put it to the test when I had EFATO at about 200'. The automatic reaction steadily pushed the stick forward, maintaining glide speed and committed to straight ahead landing off the end of the field. That was the limit of the automatic reaction. Then I had a big delay (probably only 4 seconds) while my brain did the wtf routine. Then it was way too late to do any engine check or attempt a restart. My cognitive reasoning kicked in and carried out the landing without incident.

After the adrenaline wore off I thanked my instructor. The training had kicked in as it should.

  6. Also it's a warning about how some operators view aircraft maintenance. (As far as an accountant can see, maintenance is a drain on profits). Maybe the passengers were protected because they were travelling to Mecca.

Reading between the lines, it appears that good old USA is not above corruption any more than the African owner of the Jumbo. He only served a couple of months of his rather light four year sentence in USA.

  7. Might be worth noting that VDO have two different catalogues. This can cause confusion, depending on where you source your sender.

    In USA, a 360-004 sender has a 1/8 NPT

    In Australia, a 360-004 has a 1/4 NPT.

It seems that in Australia, a 360-002 has a 1/8 NPT thread (1000kpa or 150psi full scale)

Check carefully before committing to using anything on a Rotax.
