  1. Did you end up flying direct to Kingaroy from Gympie shafs?
  2. Thanks for the insurance contact. Geoff really looked after me when the others wouldn't even return my calls. Willborne.
  3. Nice pics and the Gympie strip has just been resurfaced. What a great spot.
  4. That is the way I used to go. There is a belt of tiger country but compensate with height and it will provide enough glide time to open country.
  5. How many hours on the Golf? Mine has 2000hrs and no corrosion issues, however it has been well maintained.
  6. Is it possible to recover from a flat spin in an RA aircraft?
  7. Welcome Ian, What type of Tecnam are you flying?
  8. Thought you didn't need an ASIC if you are stopping to refuel only and not leaving the secured area?
  9. You can have hundred or thousands of hours in command but if you don't know HOW to instruct and pass on knowledge it doesn't really matter. I've seen plenty of high hours instructors that can fly great but their briefings are hopeless, they bark at the student and keep stating just how good they really are and how bad the student is. Its not just hours and expereince its how the student is taught. Has the instructor got a good appreciation of the learning cycle? Can they communicate effectively? Or is it all about an ego hit for them. A good CFI wouldn't let a junior instructor anywhere near a student until they are satisfied they have the goods. Don't just wrap it up in hours flown.
  10. Every 2 to 3 weeks for me sometimes longer with work or weather getting in the way. I make a point of practicing engine failures in curcuit, stalls, turns and reaction time to adopt best guilde and go through my checks before rehearsing the may day call. Sometime I stuff it up but it keeps it fresh. Willborne
  11. Hi Jim I have an icom 200 radio that works but needs a new display screen if your interested let me know. Willborne.
  12. While your there Tomo drop into Pro Sky Flight Training and have a look at their new FK9. Should be on line in a week or so. Willborne.
  13. Hi Tampaflyer, welcome. Nice to see another Tecnam low wing joining the ranks. I fly a Tecnam Golf based in Casino, New South Wales. Willborne.
  14. Hi GDL, Yes did all my training with Pro Sky in Gympie. They presently have a Tecnam Echo on line but will have An FK9 Tail drager at the end of the month. Gympie also has a nice sealed strip with an excellant grass cross strip. Give them a go you won't be dissappointed. Willborne.
  15. Pro Sky in Gympie offers superior training in the district and is well worth the 50 minute drive North to Gympie. Previous owner of Go Fly was trained at Pro Sky Gympie. Many people travel from other states to be trained by Pro Sky Gympie. Willborne.
  16. Apparently Rotax fuel pumps driven off the reduction gearbox are renowned for developing oil leaks overtime. Has anyone else encounted this problem? I have been advise even if I was to purchase a new one it could start to leak after a couple of hundred hours. Any advice appreciated.
  17. To my knowledge Mr Tully is still only the Ass Ops Mgr and should not automatically be appointed to Ops Mgr. This position should be advertised openly as there are plenty of potential candidates that could give the current Ass Ops Mgr a run for his money.
  18. I'm hearing you. I know of a second had Echo coming up for sale in the next few months, done a few hours but still is good condition. Let me know if your interested. Would be comparable price for what they are asking for good 2nd J170 and will hold its value.
  19. Hi Neil, Hope you catch them. No good about your job. Are you still instructing? regards Jim
  20. Have you considered a Tecnam Echo or Golf both are capable of easily landing and taking off in less than 400m with good control authority at low speed? Tecnams have the Cessna like appearance and performance to boot.
  21. See attached to view my dream plane. What a machine! They where conducting joy flights out of Lismore today but I could not afford the $2400/20min price tag. Talking to a few of the lucky ones that did go for a spin said it was fantastic and easily cruised at 350 knots with an approach speed of 110 knots. I did manage to touch it and get a photo.
  22. Hi Everyone, Can I have advice regarding the need for Fire Extinguishers in Aircraft as part of the safety kit. Are their certain types made for aviation or is there a general non aviation type available that is broad spectrum and doesn't cost an arm and leg because it has the word aviation printed on it. regards Wet Willborne at Lismore:oh yeah:
  23. Please make it stop. Though I might get some Navs in between Xmas and New Year before I go back to work. The window of opportunity is slipping through my hands. Flooding at Gympie and Lismore, joy, oh joy. It could be worse (not). Willborne
  24. Hi All, Need some advice regarding a suitable GPS to fit into a Tecnam Echo (panel mounted preferably). My budget is around $1800. I've been looking at the Garmin 495, anyone using one of these at the moment? I'm a low hour pilot and will be flying navs from Lismore to Gympie and back. Working out a few alternative tracks coastal and western. Any advice appreciated
