  1. One beautiful day, a blonde girl was out driving around in the countryside, just minding her own business and enjoying the scenery. As she went around a corner she noticed, out in a paddock, another blonde woman sitting in a dinghy with a fishing rod in her hands.

     

    The blonde in the car stopped, got out and went to the side of the road. She yelled out "oi, what the hell are you doing?" The blonde in the boat said "I'm paddock fishing" The first blonde asked "what do you mean?" The boat blonde said "just what I said, I'm fishing in the paddock".

     

    With that, the first blonde thought for a minute then yelled out "it's idiots like you that give the rest of us blondes a bad name . . . . . . . . . . . . and if I could swim I'd come out there and punch ya lights out!!!"

     

     

  2. Hi Folks,

     

    I've just been sent my renewal notice for the CASA document amendments. If I was to get all of them and the charts that I'd use it comes up to over $600 :yuk:. So I thought I'd find out which ones everyone else gets (in particular the GA people among us).

     

    Do you get all of them (CAR, CAAP, CAO, ERSA, AIP, DAH charts etc)?

     

    Do you only get the one's you must carry in the aircraft ... ERSA, AIP? or

     

    Do you get the charts you need and then download the rest?

  3. Darky,

     

    I've done a number of type conversions (mainly in GA) with aeroclubs and/or flying schools and provided there are no extra design features (eg, retractable undercarriage, tailwheel etc) you pretty much just do some circuits, stalls, glide approaches, flapless landings and simulated engine failures. They just want to make sure you can handle the aircraft safely. Sometimes it's taken me and hour or so and other times it's taken three or four lessons, depends on each individual aircraft and how you handle it.

  4. I always say "Clear prop". But im thinking of changing it to the military way. That is "Stand Clear, Starting". Reason being, it makes more sense to non pilots than "clear prop." What to you guys think?

    I always have a good look around and call clear prop. I'm starting to think "stand clear, starting" might be a better thing to call out.

     

     

  5. Hi Guys,

     

    I'll have a similar issue today travelling the coastal route from Nobby's to Sugarloaf Point. Looks like I'll be on YMND CTAF, then around Beresfield 132.1 until I get to Willy CTAF airspace and then BN CEN up the coast. Should be a fun and scenic trip. I'll have to keep a keen eye out for other traffic, I imagine it's a fairly busy route.

     

    Sorry I don't have a difinitive answer for you both but I see Paul that we're thinking along the same lines.

     

     

  6. Did I notice in the Jabiru photo a Decathlon in the background?

     

    I managed to get one aeros lesson in a couple months ago and then the aircraft went missing ... apparently the owner was going to sell it. If that was CWU in your photo then perhaps I might have the chance of starting the aeros again.

     

     

  7. This is great, I knew I'd get some good advice here.

     

    I'm not totally discounting a transit through Richmond airspace, I thought it might be easier to avoid it but I'm happy to consider it. At this stage though, I'm leaning towards the Bankstown route.

     

    I must say Ross, I do like the idea of a nice coastal flight, always good for some great photos. I'm assuming you go up that way a fair bit ... do you know what it's like trying to get clearances on a weekend to track from Maitland, through Williamtown airspace for a northbound coastal flight?

    Hi folks,

     

    I'm planning on doing a little trip from Canberra to Maitland in a GA aircraft in a few weeks and was hoping to get a bit of advice on the best route. I thought about flying up via Bathurst to avoid going anywhere near controlled airspace but I noticed there's a bit of tiger country up that way. I know I have the luxury of going a little higher than in a recreational aircraft but it still worries me a little.

     

    The other thing I thought of was going via Goulbourn then transiting through Bankstown and onto Maitland.

     

    Does anyone know the best way to go?

  9. Great pics and looks like a nice place. I said in a post a few months ago that I really wanna go there but seems all I do lately is lessons for different endorsements. I'll get there one day.

  10. Thanks for your last post Don. I believe this all started because I simply raised the question of whether or not this was fact or speculation. You promptly cleared the point up and we have PMed each other to make sure we were fine with it. The thread has been reviewed by a moderator and he believes the content is fine now.

     

    I think this thread has degenerated a bit now and shifted focus to something it wasn't meant to be. I wonder if we can all change the focus of this thread back to its original intent ... dealing with the facts (as have been presented) and passing on our words of sadness and condolences. Lets have the other discussion on the 'Philosophy of posting on this forum' thread or another appropraite thread.

  11. I know a lot of people do that in Nanchangs at Moruya but is that what happened here or are you speculating? Nothing has really been said in any of the reports.

     

    This was reported on ABC website:

     

    'The Australian Warbirds Association has confirmed that one of its members was killed in a plane crash on the New South Wales south coast on Saturday.

     

    Graeme Camage, 54, was performing aerobatics in a small ex-military plane when he lost control and crashed on a beach near Moruya.

     

    The association says Mr Camage was a long time member and was an importer of the Nanchang plane that he was flying.

     

    Association president Stephen Crocker says members are extremely saddened by the incident.

     

    "He was one of the early members of the association and helped build it to what it is today and was a keen supporter and flyer of the aircraft," he said.

     

    The association says it will provide assistance to the family and investigating authorities.

     

    Police say Mr Camage was an experienced pilot and it is not clear why the plane crashed.

     

    He was the only person on board and died from injuries at the scene.

     

    Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.'
