  7. I have just got an iPad it is so good so many great flying apps out there for it from weight and balance to NAIPS. I love the on the spot weather updates and the new app called OZ Runways it's got all ersa page for page on it.. Just wondering on other apps people have got and what you find the best to use??
  8. Hi there just wanting some advice on everyones thoughts on what is a good GPS and value for money.
  9. It is hard especially when you love some thing so much I usually just go and dont say anything wake up and go early, after my nav to scone was not till I got home that I said anything about it
  10. David Isaac I think Wayne young is great at first when i started flying I thought that I was going to be crap at the theory side of things espacily as I hated school... After a few lessons with Wayne young and his method of teaching and great explanation I was over the moon how I felt I picked it all up.. Also with everyone I guess I get really nervous with the tests and that so I put my GFPT flight test off for about 3 months, just going back and doing revision, than wyane said that's it I am booking you in an that's that lol I did the test and passed.. Also like flying with young Andrew the instructor as well
  11. It's so hard because I want to be involved in a great club atmosphere with pilots all ages talking and learning going on organized fly in and I think that pelican will offer that if it all goes ahead its a great opportunity for a good start if you know what I mean.. Barefootpilot I know what you mean with dealing with the club seams to have slipped dramatically in the last year at least
  12. Thirsty I know what u mean I tell my partner and it's i don't want to know it to dangerous i wish you would stop don't you read the news those little planes just drop out of the sky.... Trying to explain that if you got it all good best glide angle of attack and speed you have 1min for every 500 feet you can get down ok in most cases if you are on it straight away and are quick to act lol never sinks in but makes me laugh...
  13. It was great i have told so many friends but they would not get it like you guys
  14. How good would it be shame i didn't get any of the 31million lotto new years eve would have been a great gift to a lot to get pelican ( Belmont ) up and running with some spare cash in the bank lol
  15. I was also wondering I have heard that after the sale of warnervale strip that it would have to sit vacant for at least 6 years for the led in the ground from all the fuel to settle than all the dirt would have to be dug down so many meters and new soil brought in sounds like a very costly exercise to me so makes me wonder how much the sale price would be ???
  16. Woo sounds great i know that there been banter back and forward over warnervale one day it's sold and than it's not i like warnervale as it is very close to gosford and very convenient, but it is a strange going ons, there is warnervale air the training school and the warnervale aero club.. I have been a member of the club for 3 years now and in the begining I was getting regular news letters emails and club sort of aranged events. But I than found out that it was, The great guys at warnervale air that was doing the most of the work with the news letters and club events. I am in business myself and am a very organized person and I though that joining the club would be a great way of meeting people and having some fun but it just never seams to eventuate, now that warnervale air dose not look after that side of things.. So it's going to be great to have some fresh people and a new club to hopefully bring more pilots and friends together if all is true about the pelican strip I am so keen for some club BBQs and get togethers that seams to happen at other clubs!!!
  17. Just a quick question if any one is aware of what's going on at pelican airstrip just south of Newcastle. I went for a drive up that way today and as i always do slowed down for a look at the runway and think what a waste that it's not in use. Last time say 4 months or so agao i went past and the usual big blocks of concrete we smack banging the middle at the start and end of the runway, not even allowing the use for emergences if needed. ( seems very strange to me).. Than today there it is the strip all painted the centerline all nice and white the big blocks are removed and in the hanger a plane i was so excited to see and am hopeing that it is the start of a good thing.... Dose any one have any information for me... I know that good old warnervale is ment to be relocating to there when wyong council sorts out there stuff but i fly from warnervale and no one knows anything there ... It looks so nice there water at both ends of the pelican strip i would love t o use it as home base!!!!
  18. It's been 3 weeks now sence I done my first nav with my great instructor Wayne young from warnervale air.... I still can not wipe the smile off my face every day that i think about it.. The weather was great a little cloud at about 4500 feet so did not get to my planed 6500 feet but that was ok. We set off at 0920 and headed for cesnock than overhead to Braxton, muselbrook singleton than a landing at scone.. Was a little nervous coming in to scone as my usual train line that Is at warnervale circuit paten was not there for my distance but worked it all out good and landed. I was amazed at the size of the runway compared to what you could call The landing strip at warnervale if you have flown at warnervale you will know what I mean (lol). Just after a 5 minute stop and regroup of my maps at scone i take off with Wayne saying ok now we are not going to weirwa change of plans head straight to denman felt a little nervous but got the amended flight plane worked out and all went well getting back to Warnervale... The next nav is to tamworth I can't wait!!! my dream of flying is finally coming true after 18 years :clap2:
  19. yeh the trees are just great lol some times feel as if the main wheels are giving them a prune on rwy 20 lol. Still nothing about the air strip with the way that wyong councl are i can not se anything in the near future happening. Even if it dose aparently the ground would have to stay untouched for up to 10 years i think it is because of the amount of avgas that is in the soil from the aircraft. So any developer buying would not want to pay a good price for it due to this reasion i would think. Flying tomorrow morning doing my load check for the C172 and than start on my navs so i am hopping its not going anywhere soon cause i want to finish my ppl liceance there before it get shut down lol.
  20. Just joined up hope to meet some new people i am curently doing my flight traning at Warnervale with the great guys there.. IT is a nice little strip with right by the central coast.
