  1. The result of Engine Off on the Grass and Walking away, sounds and looked like if it isn't it should be Textbook.
  2. Did anything come out of Narromine to support the much discussed AC Wt increase
  3. Very Very interesting. HP to Wt looks good. Just have to get the hours up it would seem. :pig::pig::pig:
  4. Looks unreasonable. Reasonable people do what is proven, tested & safe. Unreasonable people change the world.:rotary:
  5. Hi Blackhawk Any joy from the testing Regards :pig::pig::pig: can fly
  6. Rotary Link Have a look at this link http://rotaryaircraftengines.com/enginemodels.htm eyecast
  7. Hi All This week I found a 1.3L Suzuki aftermarket turbocharger running 14lb pressure in a Suzuki GTI (Car) that achieves 180HP at the wheels from 3000 to 8000rpm that's been running for a couple of years as an every day drive. Maybe we have a contender for a 2:1 stepdown running at 5500 - 6000rpm running a prop at 2750 - 3000 rpm seems in the power band. :cool:eyecast:cool:
  8. RAA and 750Kg Chris I tend to agree, just because the a/c is under 600Kgs does not mean it's not complicated. But with increased weight we can't us a rubber band with paper wings and a netball field to get off the ground. So with a larger wt & a few more hp this may require a longer strip, training, knowlege and endorsment for the spercific a/c, just like we do now right. eyecast
  9. It's Unanomous the Stig is Anonomous just like a lot on this forum. ARRRRR WERRRR ALLLL STIGGGGGG eyestigcast :black_eye:;););););):black_eye:
  10. It just seems to me that there is a range of a/c's out there that would suit the Recreational Class in a 600 to 750 Kg weight range. Yes I agree that thay are no longer Ultralite and shouldn't be labled as such. Eyecast:yuk::yuk::yuk:
  11. Will the plane take off Movement through air gives lift. Ground movement has no effect unless air moves over a flying surface. It is possible to take off and fly backwards in relation to the ground. eyecast:pig::pig:
  12. Possible Developments with 750kg ? Hi All Is there any movement in the regulation as yet??? eyecast
  13. Have a contact that arranged Insurance for a privately purchased used LSA imported from USA in last 6 months. eyecast
  14. Yes. Air movement over the wing caused lift. The air is the parcel not the ground. The prop causes air movement over the wing giving lift. The position of the prop/jet/s in relation to the flying surface/s vary the lift. :;)3::;)3:eyecast:radioactive:
  15. Hi What a ride. Thanks for all the comments. I think we should wait for Blackhawk's test results on of the 1.4L I certainly understand that the higher the energy load the shorter the life of any engine. The whole process of putting an engine into an AC is a balance, along with many other aspects of building any AC. If the little Turbo Suzi (1.3 or 1.4L) turns out to be a realistic alternative power plant that runs at 75% of the current article that's still 135 - 150 HP. I would like that HP getting off a shot field and from 0 - 2000 feet. We all await further testing and certification. eyecast:hug:
  16. Cut & past from http://www.lightwing.com.au/Home.html Suzuki Engine Meet our newest friend, "Suzi"!, seen here with Nick Hughes, an older friend ! "Suzi" is a 1.3L turbo charged fuel injected computer managed all alloy Suzuki blocked engine with a 2 to 1 gearbox, producing up to 180hp. This engine has been developed primarily for the SPEED SP-2000 and SP-4000 aircraft though its use in our extended high wing GR- range would add flexibility and carrying capacity not to mention the ability to carry four seats and / or floats. The beauty of this engine is in its wide power range, it is envisaged that a gate on the throttle will permit an emergency maximum horsepower of up to 200 to be achieved. The engines main application will be in the E-LSA SPEED and it will available in two configurations, for the two seat SPEED and for the SP 4000 or the four seat SPEED. The engine is budget priced at $14,000 and we anticipate it will be popular with kit builders. The "Suzi" fitted to the SP4000 Although the "Suzi" is not a heavy engine, an extended engine cowl will be developed mounting the engine or prop flange about 1.1 meters from the firewall. Engine weight is comparable to the Rotax 912 range The "Suzi" fitted to the SP2000-E Fitted to the two seat experimentally registered LSA SPEED, this engine will give outstanding performance with a climb rate estimated in excess of 1,200 ft a min and a top speed at 15,000 feet in excess of 145kts. The "Suzi" combines automotive power and fuel economy with ease of maintenance and automotive reliability. eyecast
  17. Hi Phil In the short preview 200HP is a possible emergency I guess short time sprint. I agree the overhaul time could be short to maintain the high performance, similar to a race engine v's engine loads in the family sedan. Cubes are best but also come with kgs........ eyecast
  18. Hi Blackhawk I found the Suzi on http://www.lightwing.com.au/Home.html and wonder if there in any one out there already flying the suzuki 1.3L. To me it reads great and is indeed a modified version of an engine that has pulled arround a lot of automobiles. With up to 200hp I think it is a contender. eyecast
  19. Dear Engine enthusiasts Any thoughts on the Suzuki 1.3L, turbo charged, fuel injected, computer managed, alloy Suzuki blocked engine, with a 2 to 1 gearbox, producing up to 180hp, weight comparable to the Rotax 912 range. Have any forum members had any flying experience with a Suzuki? Eyecast
  20. Sabre Thank you for your reply. I still seek hangar space for a karatoo that is a high wing 6.3m long and 10m wingspan. If you have any suggestion please contact me through this forum or at [email protected] . The plane is just hanging out in Tasmania waiting to fly north to another space. Regards Eyecast
  21. What a great time to do all your maintainance. Ie change the oil, tune tune tune ready to fly your wings off after all the pollies go home. ;)
  22. Which ever way you look at it RA is a great way to learn to fly and if you want to do more than RA will let you then go jump through the hoops to the next step. It seems there is always a way.
  23. It is true that Oil Companies are not a public service, and are individual business's that compete with each other to sell the same/similar product to a customer that has come to almost totally rely on fuel to exist. Fuel will rise in cost more than it will fall as sure as the sun comes up in the morning. To Fly we need Fuel and some of us need plenty of good quality fuel to stay flying safe. I would just like the oil companies to realy compete with each other not play us, the general public, for fools pretending to have competition.:;)5:
  24. Thank's to all who responded, 4 the great advise.
  25. The ACCC should be able to do something, as thay did a couple of months ago. It would have seemed that fuel pricing was clearly in there sight. The price of fuel went down at least in South East Queensland while the Singapore price increased just a little. Can't Remember what the die- price did during all this. Reg.
