  1. How many acres do you have to mow? Some of Australia's best scenery around your area.

Lucky its only a few areas on the long runway that have these patches of ground that hold more moisture ,

Once it gets to about 1 ft ( 300,4?)mm it seems it could undo a small nose wheel plane ,

Thats one thing of many chores that need looking to around here aviation wise .

  3. I

Has anybody tried asking an experienced test pilot? I rather doubt one would be too willing to do this; test pilots usually fly solo. And wear their own parachute.

i asked kieth E the first time around with the avocet . He was very obliging and was going to do some stalls and offer his thoughts and maybe suggestions .

I was on my way to have the testing done when i pranged ( told that story)

However i did the first flights based on the fact that it didnt seem right to ask anyone to fly a complete unknown.

Avocets back flying again and I've started the 40 hr test period from the beginning .

Next thing is to ask someone again to perfome a stall or two

  4. With both systems fitted which system do you find works best?Does the SDS injection have any clear benefits over the Rotec Tbi?

The SDS is superior , the TBI , in my opinion works better than the carb .

The SDS needs expert instalation to be reliable over time .

The TBI take a bit more instalation planning to have a " good set up ".

If it's attempted by less than capable folk without the right gear can give issues ,

The P/Comp carby , is the easiest and cheepest option and has proven itself in survive .

Once youv flown with the SDS mulit piont and feel the smoothnes, the others sound and feel harsher by comparison. , even less vibration .

The fuel economy with the MPI has seen prelim . fuel consumption figures between the TBI/SDS 23. Lph : 19 lph.

  5. Ide check the nose wheel or spat alignment . , A spat out of alignment with the propellor thrust line can be enough to induce roll , ive flown more than one that required adjustement.

Thats where ide start . After step 1 .

    Cheers Mike

  6. They are still spruiking: my mum was a careflight volunteer today and they roundup was that they raised $20K for the day now Wagners said they got 30,000 today but that sounds like BS considering the donations raised.compare this photo

to this photo I took of 30k crowd in nebraska

    More like 3000 people

  7. Clearly, you are not measuring them at the hottest part, but if something goes wrong it should register a rise if it is in metal. Nev

The coolant temp is for the SDS Computer for mixture , doesn't show individual heads ,

Between exhaust temp readouts and cht', s , should be able to notice trends

    Mike

  8. How can your coolant temp be higher than your head temp? Congratulations on what must have been a lot of effort. Like to see the oil at about 95 for mineral oils. Nev

When i had the cht probe under the plugs , the temps had a spread 110/ 140 c i did the same mod on the LCH as jabiru has done to their heads .

So now , as with the aircooled heads temps eaven out to those lower numbers .

I'm Guessing that the probes now in the cooling air flow on the outside face of the heads

I moved the coolant temp probe from opposite to the exaust side , which used to read a hot spot of ; up to 128 c , in climb , to the opposite head , hence reading the flow in the waterjaket (?), opposite the intake , 102 c in climb ,and at altitude coolant temp is a lot closer to cht 's

I've never seen any signs of it booling .

I guess it will take time to present these numbers in a way that covers all the bases , as a operating manual , ect

But as ive mentioned here , these posts are only my musings ,

  9. Finally took the Avocet for a half hour flight in still air around 1000. Agl orbiting at late down wind / base area . ish .

The new tail feels good and seems balanced in feel .

Static prop speed at start of take off roll 2750 .

    Thats not bad for a 62 dia x 54 pitch . Climb 80 knts . vert \speed 1000fpm at 2600 rpm .( empty plane , )

    Just cruising at 2600 rpm indicating 95 knt's . Coolant temp 102 c heads , around 85/95 c oil temp 95 c .

Still not game to wind it out

The prop windmills on final at idle 1000 rpm at 70 knts , might try 65 knts .

Next step ; pull the cowls off and another rigorous inspection ,

  10. Definition of PULP: a magazine or book printed on rough, low-quality paper made of wood pulp or rags, and usually containing sensational and lurid stories, articles, etc.It sounds pretty bad. I would stick to the 95 because it retains its octane rating for much longer.

Have you any idea how long ?

    Aprox .
