  1. What a great effort from Adam , young guy , just gone solo , a real enthusiest ,

Its effort like this that been sadly missing from our ranks , Adam is interested in anything aviation and is ready to talk to anyone ,

Its realy fun although a bit daunting , knowing your being recorded ,

If you've got something aviation to say , give him a ring , just to have a chat ,

His editing skills will amaze you ,

I found after 40 mins of waffling on , hes able to make you sound , not half bad !.

    Cheers Mike

  2. Mine ran on a couple of weeks ago when on mostly mogas 95. I've found it doesn't with 10% or more a gas. Normal plugs.

My 95 mogas was a bit stale after a week of realy hot 40 ish + .

Now i think about it my old 2200 i had a few years ago did the same on 95 ???

I wonder if the small tips of the iridium plugs make them more susceptible to running on ??

  3. Repco have 20% off saleSo I thought i will get a price on iridium plugs

    $32 each

I got mine of ebay , $14 , checked yesterday and there $ 18 each free postage from melbourne

    The search ; ngk iridium dr9eix .

    These are for the jabiru

  4. No , ive removed the under plug and have attached as per jab mod for cht

6 sensers , im inclined to think that a spout of 40 deg days evaperated all the octain out of the 95 mogas ,

Ive drained all fuel and awaiting some avgas ,

  5. Yes , it sounds like whichcraft , but it does work , I had a 2200 that spued oil , and it was suggested to me to try this mod .

Needles to say , it works , but how , i dont fully understand ,

Ive run the the Avocet for 60 hrs , 3 oilchanges , and not one drop of oil ,

Just water , which evaporates between flights .

    Mike

Ps Its a simple mod to try , and see for yourself ,

  6. That's interesting Mike . I think the pipes at both ends are about 10-12 mm . What sort of fittings do you use at each to increase inside dia. to suit 19 mm hose ....... Bob

I just use a hose clamp and the the rubber hose " crushes" on to the pipe ok ,

You could use a piece of original hose as a stop gap , but ive found just clamping the larger dia 17/19mm ID

    works ok .

  7. Regarding oil in the bottle ,

Fit a larger hose dia , 19 mm from the breather to the bottle , dont wory about the smaller outlet at the dipstick end ,

The the larger hose reducces the pressure in the pipe ie less oil in the bottle , works great , have done it to three jab engins , and you only end up with water in the bottle ,

Wyane Jons put me on to this .

These people are nothing more than

    Arswipes !

  10. I made the mistake of photoing the avocet build , plugs , layups ect , but LOST it all , not backed up . Now i use the i clould for back up , got the rebuild though !

I still shead a tear if i think about it to much !

  11. I have to say (sorry guys) but the answers given on this thread regarding the legal position of councils has been a mish mash of of misinformation.I have looked at buying a property and setting up my own airfield several times in three shires and have friends who have been through the mill and can report the following:

As far as the legal situation about councils (rural or otherwise) at least in Queensland goes.

IF a council ALREADY has in place a By Law that restricts the setting up of a place where you land an aircraft (the name ALA, airstrip airport or whatever will not get you around the rule) then you can not set one up. This is currently the law in the Tablelands Shire in North Queensland . Other shires may or may not have similar by laws. If you think you can get around it by claiming my plane is like my car you can't, that ONLY applies where no by law ALREADY exists.

If no by law already exists then you CAN claim the right to enter and leave your property by whatever means is safe. This is certain and was proved in court by Bob Norman in Cairns about 20 years ago when he installed a helipad on an acreage property on the northern beaches area of Cairns.

If you are told by a council you can't have one and no by law exists they can still stop you with a court injunction and YOU have to take the council to court. Even if you do win the council may impose heavy restrictions on your usage. Pat English built a strip at Koah in North Queensland (In the Tablelands Shire prior to the no airstrips rule) and although he won, at great cost, he was left with significant restrictions such as daily weekly and monthly take offs and landings, no circuits except for returning or departing from the strip, no usage by other aircraft except in emergencies, provision of records of take offs and landings to the council at regular intervals. It was his "victory" over the council which inspired them to introduce the by law which couldn't stop him but does stop anyone else from having a private airstrip.

Thats one reason i moved from QLD to SA

  12. Off topic; Ok, there's been a crash and the guys ok - obviously much later, why is there still 3 policemen and 2 police cars still there. Can only be topped by American police for wasting taxpayers time, i.e. money, well after the incident.

As far as im concerned you can have the whole police force standing around with hands in pocket .

Better there than lurking behind a bush waiting to nab someone for doing 2 ks over .

Cops think everyones a suspect ,

    eaven amongst their own ranks

( latest shite from the tv )

As far as wasting tax $

I heard eack cop cost .20 c a day to run

    Just saying .

A mate got booked and said to the cop ; your wasting my tax $ ,

Cop reached into his pocket and gave him his .20 c back , and booked him.

  13. Bruce , the one in bundy you mentioned was a j200 or 230 19 xxxx

I spoken to the crew who picked up what was left , in a bucket !

Another poor wiring job in a home built , ( not saying any thing about the sonex , )

  14. The Icon A5 was a game changer in my view particularly the ambience of the cockpit and the convenience of the folding wings. A brilliant, innovative design but I don't understand why it has taken so long to get to market.

Ide have a guess at that ,

Building a new innovated design ends up being the easy part !

Its what comes next is the game changer .
