  1. Thats the way Case.

My kit and the other two kits that are going to Brisbane have now left the factory. I have been told that they will arrive in Australia in early march. If we can be of any assistance feel free to contact us and i am sure that we will be looking forward to seeing your kit being built.

  2. Thanks for the in site so far. I have read on WW site that he uses the MA3spa or the Ellison throttle body. Mark Langford is running the Aero-Carb. I like the idea of the Aero-Carb very simple to fit and run.

  3. I have purchased an engine that has a Bing CV carbie.

Has any one had any dealings with these carbies.

I have heard both good and bad reports about these types of carbies. any comments appreciated. :;)5:

    Thank you

  4. I flew down to Melbourne over the weekend and have picked myself up a Corvair package for the 601. Neely every thing that i will require for the plane EG Mount, Nose Cowl, top and bottom engine covers, Motor, Carbie, Oil and fuel lines plus a lot more.

I think that the Corvair engine suits the 601 very well. I have read a lot about the engine both from WW website and from the two manuals and the 4 DVD that he has produced. His engine is now widely accepted as a cheaper alternative power plant for the 601. WW has produced a very comprehensive manual just for the 601. He goes in to detail with how the fit the Corvair into the 601 frame. He also sells all of the parts that are required. I hope to pick up the engine over the Xmas break. This will give me some thing to do while i am still waiting for my kit to leave the states (Mid January i hope).

  5. Mal,

Gary or Liezel in the office are very good to deal with. They will ask you for $80.00 for a test flight. They will take the plane out into there training area and put it through its paces. This cost will be deducted from the price if you purchace (fuel cost money these days).

I have no problem contacting them i just call Liezel on the phone and get her every time.

  6. Last weekend we took another friend down to Sports Air for a test flight. He was very impressed with the CH 601 and will be placing an order for a Quick Build kit on his return from a trip to China. That means we will be building 4 kits he in Brisbane at once. We will also be posting pictures. I think Thruster 87,s suggestion that we start a 601 club may have some merit.

  7. I have the Lowrance Airmap 2000C and all of the Fields that are listed above are in the unit. It is using the standard Jeppesen Charts. I am using it straight out of the box no extra setup.

  8. Nice plane. But at $20,000.00 US for the kit it is $4,110.00 dollars dearer than the CH 601 XL. It also only has a cruise speed on 120 mph to the 155 mph of the CH 601 XL. The 601 has been around for a while now and has proved it self as a very easy plane to fly.

  9. thruster 87.

I was talking to Liezel at Sport Air today. She said that you ask about us. We have already built a CH 710 and will be starting on the (3) CH 601XL kits when they arrive early next year. If we can be of any assistance please feel free to contact us.

    Towering Cu.

I looked at Garry Morgan's plane but decided on the CH 601XL for most of the same reasons that thruster 87 did. I do not like laying down to fly like in Garry's plane and the canopy was touching my head. not so in the CH 601XL plenty of head and shoulder room.

  10. Not sure!

He gave me a few names to contact in the states that have all the parts to rebuild the motor it self. I believe that he has most of the parts to convert to a airplane motor.

I would most probably import the motor and all of the parts to rebuild my self and then just get the rest from Darren or direct from the states. Some part i will most probably make my self.

  11. I contacted Darren Bannfield the Australian agent for www.Flycorvair.com and he informed me that this would be a reasonable amount to pay for the engine and fire wall forward.

Pick up an old engine in the states plus all of the parts to rebuild. Extra parts like starters and nose cones from Flycorvair. some parts available in OZ. As Flycorvair states on his web site "If you can build a kit plain you will be able to build the engine"

  12. I am not to sure how hard they are to remove. I believe that they unbolt from within the main cabin and then undo the wiring and aileron linkage. And then you can slide the wings out for transport. as this is the XL the under carriage is attached to the fuselage and not the wings like the 601 HD.

  13. The wing locker kit. We looked at getting the dual sticks but after flying it we decided that the centre stick was actually better. The long range fuel tank was looked at but the extra $440 US each kit for an extra 250mm of sheeting was out of the question. The only difference that i can see between the two tanks is the extra wide main sheeting. it still only has the ends welded in the same. We will modify the standard tanks instead.

One will be getting a 912 Rotax while i am looking at the Corvair. The third has not decided yet.

The 912 will be standard instruments, i would like to go glass but will have to see how the dollars pan out.

  14. No your ok!

We have purchased the standard kits from the states not the quick build kits (by the way they only has two QB left the third went out last week). They have had a busy week with the dollar the way it is.

As it is the kit with a couple of extras delivered to Brisbane will be just over the 20k mark including GST

On the down side they will not leave Zenith until mid January. (I cannot wait!) but the QB kit was just outside our budgets. are well that life.

  15. I have flown in a few aircraft including the Cheetah and my self and two other mates flew the 601 XL on the week end and we have order three kit (one each)from Sport Air on the Gold Coast. It is a very easy plane to fly and we cruised around at 110-115 knots and the winds where around 15 - 20 konts. The plain did not jump around and just flew straight and true.

    A pleasure to fly.

Cannot wait for the kit to arrive.
