  1. Doug. that radial-engined 912 GA55 is no more. About 5 years ago after only about 17 hours logged from commissioning with the radial, it fell on it's nose on take-off and was written off. I bought the wreck for the engine (subsequently zero-timed by Rotec and now powering a Fisher Celebrity bi-plane) and still have the remainder of the dis-assembled Lightwing in my hangar. I'll never get around to rebuilding it but it's too good to part out so I keep tripping over and cursing it.

  2. As far as I know there is no difference between the two apart from a paper trail one was registered later so was branded with 55 the other was 25 and home built are 19. And there are a few with VH brandings but the aircraft are to my knowledge the same eg GA 55 as mine is & GR 582 -532 areopowed units & 912 s think there is one flying with an rotex radial engine as well !

  3. My understanding is that the aircraft were designed to a higher MTOW but were limited to 480kg due to the CAO at the time. How any "legal" training was done in these aircraft or others (Skyfox etc) is beyond me...

When I did my training they where 544 mtow back then which is plenty for the Lightwing in my view

  4. Today I was trying to fly over the range through dodgy weather. OZrunways and BOM radar was essential for watching the moving weather. Then the iPad had a fit and insisted that it needed to be re-authorized and I would need my Apple ID password to do that. No other way around it..... I didn't have the password with me and couldn't remember it..... So rather than push on into difficult conditions I elected to head back for home.....So now the password is written in the back of the iPad case.....

Set it up too use your finger print
  5. Can any one please advise the approx basic empty weight, MTOW, VNO and VNE figures from the POH of a GR912s tail wheel or nose wheel Lightwing aircraft?Cheers

Most are 480 mtow as RAA have changed this my old two stroke was drop from 544 too 400 kg
  6. Firstly- before the jokes hit - not talking about your partnerSecondly - not taking about the types of aircraft that are dogs

Thinking of taking my dog (husky) for a fly. Have ordered some ear protection for him.

Have a full walking harness and will clip into seat belt to restrict movement.

Have thought of doing a few taxi strip runs up to see the reaction etc.

Anyone here have any experience with flying with there pet and how they got started and introduced the experience.

Took my shitsu up and she loved it

Hi Doug its 045 (has a different rudder to any I've seen} I bought it out of Balina Factory second hand.It had been in Glen Innes,Pretty sure original it was white with green tips and struts,The guy I bought it of got it out of Wayne Fishers factory so I've been told.

Think there are 2 rudder types the big square and there is a smaller on other models 0032 has the larger tail fin where 0424 has the smaller one !

  9. Hello

As far as I know most are 450KG my two stroke was 544 KG for 20 years and then they droped it back too 400 kg the GA 55 I have now is only 450 kg which is stupid .

but the will carry what ever weight you put in them as long as you keep within the CofG . not saying too do that of course but I have flown in the passed with no problems
