  1. A bit of an overreaction? http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalking/2011/10/29/joyce-stamps-foot-shut-down-qantas/
  2. You should look up more often Andy, someone was buzzing around in a Jabiru all over the place this morning making things not too quiet. Not sure where they were from, South Grafton or Coffs but it seemed they were flying around the place at 1000' just avoiding the edge of the CTA.
  3. No flying till November 11th for me, but at least I'll finally be getting into circuits and making progress towards solo! Already managed to survive doing stalls, even though it goes against every form of common sense to yank back on the controls that far...
  4. Buy some new wings for your plane did you? Didn't know an ultralight could be pressurised....... Just kidding, but this is one of the best things about commercial flying, more time to concentrate on the view (Unless of course you're working)
  5. Which store would that be? I've been looking for an inexpensive way to record my lessons, as a learning tool more than anything else. Make sure you let us know when the video is up!
  6. Take that break, you certainly need it.
  7. Talk about drifting offtopic here...
  8. Thanks. Unfortunately I am a bit of a drive from the Gold Coast , about 4 hours away in NSW. If I'm ever up that way, which I may be sometime soon, I'll be sure to drop in to Jacobs Well for a look!
  9. Can't wait to see the video! :) I really should think of starting to film some of my lessons, not only to show people but also it would be a good learning tool. Problem is trying to find a camera that isn't going to cost me a lessons worth of flying... Easier said than done.
  10. Seems to be a bit of overkill but damned cool none the less, I bet that start-up sound would scare some people who didn't know it was a turbine!
  11. Now that's flying! If I may ask what is the small tube hanging out the front? Is that an ASI of sorts?
  12. Thanks for the words of encouragement :) I console myself in the fact that I have a good backup plan, which will prepare me for getting into med at a later date. Also if I happen to miss out on Medicine I will be doing a less intensive course and have much more time for flying, which I suppose is a positive thing!
  13. Thanks. Not sure of the reasons for the mass exodus but I know I sure am seeing a lot of familiar avatars over here!
  14. Hi all, Thought I would join up to this site as it seems like a friendly place. Only started out in RAA recently, got about 6 hours at the moment in a Foxbat and hope to have my certificate by the end of next year. Not new to aviation forums, used to post on another forum (Which seems to be infamous around here...) under another name, which after some 300 posts I had deleted due to reasons I won't go into. (I have nothing against the 'other' forum and still post there occasionally) Seems like another good forum here, I'll go wherever the aviation related discussion goes :) A bit about me too I guess. Currently in the middle of my HSC exams, aiming to get into medicine at uni next year, not sure how that will go however. I plan on getting my RAA cert and a Nav endorsement sometime, and possibly a GFPT and later PPL when I get the hours. All I really want to do is fly for fun, and take people flying for fun And I'd also like to own my own aircraft... one day... Would love to make it to NATFLY 2012 but I don't think I will get the chance.
  15. I think the faint scream coming from the back gives a bit of an indication of what it felt like to be a passenger... haha No need for the screaming though, utterly perfect landing there! Great piloting skills!
  16. I'm pretty tall, don't know exactly but definitely over 6' and I fit in a J170 no problems at all so you should hopefully be fine.
  17. Is it possible to stick the leftover items in a drop down called 'other' or 'more'
  18. Currently a student, sat my first HSC exam this morning... 6 more to go Hope to be at Uni next year, ideally studying medicine but I'll just see if I can manage to get into that. At best it will be 6 years at uni, possibly 8. Only started flying this year, haven't managed to go solo yet but I hope to have my certificate and possibly GFPT by the end of next year. All I want to do with flying at this stage is be able to fly for the fun of it, and to take friends flying
  19. Wish we had storms that interesting here..... all we seem to get is a few bits of thunder and lightning for about half an hour at most, maybe a bit of rain and then it just moves up or down the coast. So boring!
  20. Amazing! Pity that we are getting as close as possible to human flight, I mean with this relatively small wing he achieved it, but no one can work out how to land without a parachute...
  21. Found this video earlier by chance. A very skilled pilot landing a GT500 on an airstrip in Ecuador. Enjoy
