  1. Its very frustrating to have an instructor who is too busy rambling on about themselves, I think we would have all had a similar experience at sometime during our flying training. I know I have had my fair share over the years! Thankfully where I fly now they are all fantastic. Rotary flying is alot of fun isnt it! I am thinking of doing a conversion down the track once I finish my CPL. Clearly will depend on my financial situation at the time LOL Good luck with it all, Newcastle looks like a great place to fly!
  2. My mate had to do the same thing to a PAX except was a Virgin flight.
  3. I just purchased an ipad2, and am about to load up Oz Rwys, I always have NAIPs on my iphone as well as now on the iPad. Plus the BOM site is great too for updates on radar. There is also a great ap called LOGTENPRO for log books.
  4. Very tongue in Cheek! made me smile because I put my headset on to suit my hair too!!
  5. Hi Pali! How many lessons have you had now and where are you flying? Good luck with it all
  6. Nice one Tomo! Guessing you will have a right leg bigger than the left soon with all that rudder work! All jokes aside, fantastic that you have your approval and great for hour building and experience! Well done.
  7. I had my photo taken with Matt at Redbull in WA last time, I think even I was taller than him!!! LOL
  8. Hi there Camel Thank you for all your kind words. Its hard not to be enthusiastic when you love something so much as I do with aviation, I drive most people up the wall! LOL I dont fly RAA aircraft, havent had the opportunity to do so yet, but its on my list of things to achieve in my aviation endeavors. I have always loved aerobatics from the back seat, so I figured it was time to put my skills to the test and give it a go. I really had no idea what I was in for, or how I would feel, but I just simply love it. My last lesson my poor instructor wasnt feeling so well after the slow rolls, spins, loops and barrel rolls so we had to head back to the airfield, but i just could have stayed out there for hours! I find it so challenging and a great way to improve my flying skills. I am not afraid of unusual attitudes that is for sure! Thanks again for your lovely comments. I too hope that I get to organise the next airshow in 2 years time. All the hard work has been done now. I certainly intend to have a couple of beers after the show finishes on the sunday night!
  9. Hi Kaz, Friends of mine own an Auster and I have been lucky enough to fly it a couple of times.... What a beautiful airplane it is too! I flew it over Goolwa while taking pictures of the whales and their babies. Never landed one, as I didnt have my tail wheel endorsement at that time. I havent flown the aerobatic rated Grob, they are a pretty cool thing to fly, I dont mind the low wing, eveything is placed well in the cockpit, easy to reach. think I had about 25- 30 hours on them from memory, can be a bit bouncy on the rwy when its hot weather. (probably just my landing technique!) I rate the Grob for fun factor as a ha! ha! The grob is a good basic trainer, the G-115A - One 85kW (115hp) Lycoming O235H2C flat four piston engine driving a two blade fixed pitch or you can option a constant speed prop. The G-115D - One 135kW (180hp) Lycoming fuel injected AEIO360 driving a two blade constant speed prop. The D model is often used for basic aerobatics I believe it is rated +6G to -3G Maximum Xwind on the Grob is 12kt from memory. The Super Decath is alot more fun- because you get to go upside down!! It has a Lycoming 180hp AEIO-360 engine standard Constant Speed and is rated at +6G, -5g's Max demonstrated Xwind is 17kt. The most I have landed in was about 13kt in the decath Loads of fun & a tail wheel to boot!
  10. Totally agree Av8. We dont need a separate forum just for girls, but it does make it more fun to stir you blokes up! But what Sue is saying is totally correct about AWPA, most of our gatherings have more men than women in attendance, this just shows how much more we need to encourage women to try flying. I think anything that anything we can do to promote aviation in general to all is fantastic!
  11. His manager contacted me, but we dont really need him. Hes charging an arm & two legs! lol
  12. I was lucky enough to get a tour of BNE tower 2 weeks ago, those guys and gals were awesome! And the view was pretty good too!
  13. Hi Doug, I am training at Parafield. Hoping the airshow will be fantastic, we have had alot of support!
  14. Hi Tomo, The Decath is so much fun! I definitly am hooked, as some one said to me last month 'Its the most fun you can have with your clothes on!' lol...
  15. I pick the prettiest part of the sky and I melt into the wing and then into the air, until I am just a soul on a sunbeam.’ – Richard Bach
  16. Hi everyone! Wow what a nice welcome Yeah I am sure Student Biggles & I would have a few funny AWPA stories to tell that is for sure! Currently I am flying C172sp models, and am doing my aerobatic/ tail wheel rating in a super decathlon. The Inernode Parafield Airshow is my other passion at the moment. I have been the main organiser of the event, which is happening on 25th March 2012. www.parafieldairshow.com.au & if you want to purchase tickets at the reduced rate www.proticket.com.au So far I have a few exciting things on the flying program, Chris Sperou will do aero's in his super stinker, Jeff Trappett is bringing his P51 Mustang, Mark Pracy from Pracy racing is bringing his L39 jet (mark came 6th in Reno representing Aus this year) Jim Wickham is bringing his awesome Yak9, James Edwards is bringing his S211 Jet, we have loads of warbirds, antique and RA aircraft, parachuting, a paraglider who will do aerobatics when we drop him out of a chopper, I have also secured the full Aust Defence approval, so will wait and see what the defence will provide us, but seeing as Edinburgh airbase is only a couple of miles away, I am hoping we get HEAPS of cool stuff!. The Roulettes are also expected to attend. I cant give everything away, so you will all just have to attend and see what exciting things will happen on the day! All money raised from the day is going back to local aviation museums, charities and also a flight scholarship program. We intend to run the event every 2 years. If you want to fly in on the day you can get all information from the web site, and feel free to register online to receive updates and also be first to know whats going on with promotions etc. Hope that has covered it all, but if anyone has any questions, feel free to send me an email [email protected] :)
