  1. Thanks all. Got my insurance via Chris Speru here in Adelaide... All happy now
  2. And they say flying a Trike is a bit breezy? Far too open flying for me. Where would you put your maps and charts, and how would you use them? Oz Runways would not work as their is no place to plug the charger into.... Or is their?
  3. Did get a result today from the Adelaide office. Still not sure if I should use them. Worried about what happens when I need a claim. Have been looking at the insurance forum and may try some others that have been mentioned
  4. Well I thought it was a good idea to get some ground insurance for my new Jabiru that I am building. I thought I would call OAMPS as they seem to have spent large amounts of money in our Mags to get our business… Well so it seems! I contacted their office and was ref to Dee who sent me the forms for me to fill out in the full knowing I needed only ground insurance.. Near 5 days later I got the E-Mailed forms that I processed and sent back in 5 mins… Several days later I got a quote for full flying insurance…. I then E-Mailed them again and explained that they had quoted me on flying insurance and could they please Re-Quote.. I have not had another response from their office.. OK I thought! Must have got a bad agent? So I called the Adelaide office and told them the process so far.. I advised them that this was my last call to try and pass on my business to them… The lady was really nice and promised me that Bill would call me back today after 2pm and that she was really sorry I was having problems getting a quote.. I was told this should be sorted out and they looked forward to assisting me later today… They never called back! Always hearing how tough business is and yet getting good service seems to be getting worse and worse… I guess I will take my business to somone who wants it. I also had trouble with OAMPS when I had ground insurance on my trike.. after 3 years they said they no longer had a group arrangement with the HGFA and could no longer help me,,, and that was the end of that… I wonder what would happen if you needed to make a claim? I think I have a good idea! Just wanted to advise others of the poor service I got from them.. Mardy
  5. Thanks all for your advice. I am still in the final build stage with mainly electrics to be fitted out. So many wires and so little free time. Anyway I'm off to the hanger,,,, I've got a plane to finish!
  6. Well I am a happy man tonight. I just purchased my first 3 axis aircraft. I have purchased an as new sk 2.2 Jabiru that only needs a couple of weeks work to finish Her. She's a real little ripper and will be ideal for me. I have a new factory re-built 0 hours 2.2 jabiru motor with solid lifters. I have been reading lots and am not sure if the general trend is to stay with solid lifters or update to hydrolic. Thier is so much tall poppy cutting on one of our own local products, it makes it hard to make sense of it all. I would love to here from others that have had direct experience with these motors so I can try to do what is best in the long term. Regards Mardy
  7. they also train in the 170 at the Gawler Airfield. They also have some other larger aircraft on thier fleet. great place to learn. why not give them a call. They also have a website. Adelaide soaring club. Mardy
  8. Don't worry Andy, nothing wrong with pokin fun. I just can't think of anything to poke at you at this stage. But standby as sooner or later something will come to mind LOL
  9. Well I picked herm as a name as it is a small little rock that people dump thier rubbish on.. What do you think Andy. does that fit the Mardy You know. Speaking of little rocks, that's what I thought was going to be launched at me when I told the wife I was looking at a Jabiru. That goodness stoning is no loner allowed!
  10. I know that these days getting good service is something of chance, so when it's good I like to tell others. About 12 months ago I purchased a set of Lightspeed Sierra headsets for my flying. I am so happy with these and love using them. I am sure others will have thier opinion on these, but my main comment here is what happened when things went wrong with them. I had some problems with the Bluetooth side of things and contacted the service agent here in Australia, Quality Avionics. I was advised to lodge a service on the Internet at the Lightspeed site in the USA. I thought here we go, I will need to send these to the US. I was sent a return E-mail with an RA Number and advise to post to Quality Avionics in QLD. I posted them on Thursday and had them back on Tues, and I live in Adelaide. I was surprised when the box arrived and opened it to find they had replaced my 12 month old headset with a brand new set. I am so happy with the service I wanted to share it with others. I guess you get what you pay for, but often these days you get very little no matter what you spend. I am sure mine will last a long time, but I would purchase them again in a heartbeat. 2nd post and Already blowing my trumpet LOL Mardy
  11. Hi Andy. Give me a call or text me your new number. Doing fine and just looking at buying my own 3 axis aircraft. I have been flying a Morgans Sierra. Looks like little Pete might be doing his 3 axis conversion also. Things have really changed at Gawler. Once I get a few more xcountry flights up my belt I will have to fly up your way some time. I hope you have been keeping well and having some good flying. I did look out at Temora in the hope you might have flown in. Big pete has purchased a Foxbat and your old hanger has all the trikes in it. Rob has been dealing in Foxbats so I am not the trike hub at Gawler. Mardy
  12. I still have the trike! I just wanted to spread my wings, so to speak. I wanted to learn how to fly before I started flying in machines that do most of the work for you. I must say it is getting harder as I get older to do all the gear up thing on cold mornings before I fly. I am starting to wear long johns and singlets. Next I will be flying in my slippers LOL Mardy
  13. Hello all. Yep for those that know Guernsey will know that Her is a small island next to Guernsey. Well in short it ref to the fact that I am his Son (Alan that is). So hello to all and hello Ian. Thanks Ian for you help with the cable a Natfly. I sorted out the sharp end of the deal and hope you received it all OK. I currently fly an Airborne Trike and have been for the last 7 years. I have just gone back to 3 axis after my Brother in Law purchased a Morgan Sierra. Had the joy of flying it back from Natfly last week and had a great time doing so. Well I look forward to reading and sharing on this forum. Mardy
