  4. Gold Coast Sports Flying Club members said they are shocked by the allegations. “It was a bit of a surprise,” club vice president Malcolm Aldred said. “He sometimes comes to club meetings and if you needed a hand with anything he was always available to lend a hand.” He will probably get off as he was lending a hand to the Hells Angels:scooter:

  11. Fuel Injected = no venturi From Wiki The primary difference between carburetors and fuel injection is that fuel injection atomizes the fuel through a small nozzle under high pressure, while a carburetor relies on suction created by intake air accelerated through a Venturi tube to draw the fuel into the airstream.

  13. Another weekend, another accident, luckily not fatal From ABC http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-16/pilot-escapes-light-plane-crash-on-gold-coast/6700966 The pilot of a light plane has escaped with scratches after crashing into bushland on the Gold Coast. The 75-year-old man was flying his single-engine Beechcraft when he got into trouble when coming in to land at the Southport Flying Club airstrip about 9:50am on Sunday. Queensland Police said his engine lost power during the descent. The experienced pilot crashed into trees at Coombabah, where the plane came to rest upside down. "While there was damage to the plane ... the cabin remained intact," a police spokeswoman said. "The pilot exited via the rear doors." The pilot was taken to the Allamanda Private Hospital for a check-up, but his injuries were minor. "[He had] light scratches," a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said. "That's a minor injury considering the crash."

  15. Noticed this on the news tonight Once you've jumped from the edge of the space (http://win.gs/FreefallFromSpace), the bar is set pretty high for future thrill seeking projects. Since leaping from stratosphere, Felix has been exploring his passion for flying helicopters, and it was these skills he showcased in Poland during the recent Red Bull Heli Drifting performance.
  16. Good outcome Gotta watch those dingos Fly Safe RW From ABC http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-06/flight-crash-survivor-stalked-by-dingoes-on-trek-to-safety/6676130?section=wa A man who survived an aircraft crash in Western Australia's remote Mid West says he was stalked by dingoes as he walked more than 20 kilometres to find help. Peter Lacy was returning from a gold mine on Saturday to Cue, about 660km north-east of Perth, when his small plane's engine started spewing smoke into the cabin. The 48-year-old was forced to land the single-engine Cessna 210 in difficult terrain. "There was no clear brakes at all," he said. "That's why I had to only sort of look after myself and attempt to sort of save the aircraft as much as I could." But he said the right wing clipped a tree on the way down. I had to walk because nobody knew where I was, so I walked for 25 kilometres into where I knew some hills were. Then I was able to ring for help from there. Peter Lacy "I skidded for probably 10 metres before coming to rest against a tree, where aviation fuel started pouring on top of me so I had to vacate very quickly," he said. "I was concerned I would have caught fire." The experienced pilot was able to drag himself free of the wreckage, surprised to have only received a hit to the head and "a couple of little scratches". After spending hours trying to activate a broken EPIRB, Mr Lacy decided to set off on foot for help. "I had to walk because nobody knew where I was, so I walked for 25 kilometres into where I knew some hills were," he said. "Then I was able to ring for help from there." Mr Lacy, who lives in Bunbury but works across the Mid West repairing roads, said while walking he was harassed by dingoes. "There was about three or four of them sort of circling me while I was walking along ... which I was sort of concerned about," he said. "They weren't too far away. "I couldn't see them because the moon was up but the cloud sort of covered the moon, so you couldn't really see where you were going too well." Poor weather conditions hampered the search effort for the 48-year-old, who waited about 24 hours before he was rescued. "I was quite relieved when the police turned up on the motorbike and picked me up," he said. Despite the ordeal, Mr Lacy said he was not scared off flying. "I'd get back in one again tomorrow," he said. "Everything from my training and my experience in the bush, I think I made the right decision, I think, to make sure I got back to tell the tale."

  20. From ABC A light plane has crashed at Mackay airport in north Queensland. Police said the aircraft crash landed on the tarmac about 2:30pm. Emergency services are at the scene. 21. From the Herald Sun A MELBOURNE-bound passenger plane has hit a kangaroo after it strayed on to a runway at the regional airport in Victoria’s northwest. The Rex Airlines flight ZL3653 had to be cancelled after it struck the animal in the initial stages of takeoff about 6.30am. An airline spokeswoman said the kangaroo hit the 34-seater plane’s right propeller. “Takeoff was rejected and the aircraft is still in Mildura,” the spokeswoman said. She said none of the plane’s occupants were hurt. Passengers were shifted on to alternative flights and have since all made it to Melbourne. The spokeswoman said the Saab 340 twin-turboprop’s propeller was damaged in the collision, with engineers to assess the extent of the impact. Mildura Airport is surrounded by fences, so it’s not known how the kangaroo made it on to the tarmac.
  22. Could be a wing from a Cessna No really I hope it is off MH 370 From ABC A mysterious piece of plane debris has washed up on the French Indian Ocean island of La Reunion, prompting speculation it could be part of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. The two-metre-long piece of wreckage, which seemed to be part of a wing, was found by people cleaning up a beach on the small island east of Madagascar. "It was covered in shells, so one would say it had been in the water a long time," one witness said. French air transport officials have already opened an investigation to find where the wreckage could have come from. Which plane could the wreckage be from? Malaysia Airlines flight MH370: The Boeing 777 disappeared in March 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Search efforts have focused on a broad expanse of the southern Indian Ocean. Ethiopian Airlines flight 961: The Boeing 767 was hijacked on November 23, 1996 by three Ethiopians seeking asylum in Australia. It crashed into the Indian Ocean near the Comoros Islands, killing 125 of the 175 passengers and crew, including the hijackers. South African Airways flight 295: The Boeing 747 suffered a catastrophic in-flight fire in the cargo area and crashed into the Indian Ocean east of Mauritius on November 28, 1987, killing everyone on board. One of its flight recorders was recovered at a depth of 4,900m.
