  1. Howdy Bob,

Got a bit side tracked. Bought a Bantam 22S not long after I showed you the photos, but now back on track and just waiting for a good day and a mate with a tinne is not to0 busy.

Had a Bantam about 10 years ago and enjoyed it. Building a mobile hangar to put it in, think some people who hate paying hangarage may find it interesting.

    cheers...... H

  2. I had a carburetor slide stick part way up on one carburetor on a 582 on a Drifter once and someone said that should not have been much of a problem. Well they were dead wrong about that, we were doing circuits and the first thing to happen was the plane did not want to land it just kept flying. So we ran out of strip then we had to do a go round without full power. By this time I had worked out what was going on so after struggling around the circuit with part throttle we shut the motor off and landed. Some thing so simple can make life quite difficult.

Was it premix or oil injection?

Bantam, dual 2 seat 582 also a great contender.

When ever we fly into Caloundra with our group of Kestrels… 95.10 single place ,we always get lots of questions form young and old flyers.

It all boils down to the individuals motivation to do it, there's heaps of info out there.

  4. Thanks for the feedback Guys.

I was mainly concerned with, tensile, tearing and bearing failure of the connection . see attached photo.

As far as the strut overall goes AS/NZS 1664 seems to cover allowable stress for compression members with given S/L.
