  1. The Bristells With retractable gear would be std RAAus rego not LSA. See........ http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/rules/1998casr/021/021c41.pdf 5.1 (5) (i) states aircraft operated over land are to have fixed gear.
  2. Retractable undercarriage is not and never has been permitted on Aussie or USA LSA's. What does merit enquiry is any component fitted to an LSA aircraft that is not made by the aircraft manufacturer such as brakes, tyres or lot of European LSA's use the same composite undercarriage legs. If they apply this to props where does it stop?
  3. The problem that has come to light is that the whole of LSA is based on the American standards known as ASTMs. Because LSA in America does not allow in flight adjustable props there are no ASTMs on in flight adjustable props. When LSA was set up in Australia CASA & RAAus in their wisdom decided to allow in flight adjustable props, something they have now realised that for which there is no standard. Are we now going to be told these props are no longer legal? If so who is going to pay for replacements for props that were purchased and fitted under a clearly published regulation? I hope these props will be allowed to stay in use under some sort of grandfather clause, or....... Can anyone spell "Class Action"?
  4. Do you really believe that agents / manufacturers brought LSA into existence? More likely CASA thought because the USA had it we should have it too. We were already almost there with our standard RAAus category. LSA has just added more complication & therefore confusion.
  5. Could it be that some agents / manufacturers whose aircraft are grounded withdrew their sponsorship of the calendar??? If so who could blame them!
  6. I agree that priority must be given to those trying to make a living. There is no such thing as a quick buck or easy living in RAAus training or selling / manufacturing aircraft. RAAus has no right to make it any harder for these people. Don't forget without these people RAAus cannot grow.
  7. Thought all should know this same e-mail has been distributed to some in Queensland by Myles Breitkreutz. Below is a copy of Myles e-mail. I have removed the recipients addresses, but some were parts of flying groups / clubs with large lists of e-mail contacts at their disposal. The word files mentioned were a copy of Gavin's e-mail / letter above with WA changed to Qld and a proxy form. From: Myles Breitkreutz [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, 10 January 2013 9:27 AM To: Subject: Need your help for you Hello All, Attached are two word files, could you please down load them and forward them to all your RA-Aus Queensland members you can. This is so you have a balanced say in your organization, as you will see when you open the proxy form. I am working in conjunction with Gavin Tobaven and the WA members and they are getting the same word files as you are. So, if you value your organization, please take the time and help me help you. Cheers Myles
