If Steve Whitman... and Jim Bede designed a plane together Im sure it would of looked like this in the 70s.. I like it.
Ha, I was just about to write; "So someone made a sports version of a BD4..."!

A blonde walks into a bar .......
Actually she wouldn't have walked into the bar if she hadn't been looking at the dish washing detergent bottle she was carrying that had written on the label "concentrate" .....

What good would it do anyone, surely it will be seen, seems a little strange
Sometimes, and I emphasise sometimes, people do similar things to get out of hock.
Good luck with that Mike and don't forget to buy some chaff for the equines as well. Also I did the first taxi tests today in the Avocet , actually I'm real nervous about flying it again , ( I spose that's a good thing , Hay ?)- 1

Yes I'm into classic bikes before they were "collectables" and "rare" (there's a good reason :censored:heaps are rare which does not make them valuable!).back in the 80's, I owned an e-type jag as well as a '59 MGA, paid very little for them and didn't get much back. .I just don't see it in an old rotting plane of no consequence. The Ercoupe for sale here is an example of something collectable.
I blame the magazines such as Just Bikes etc.

No not those models!! Airplane models!
These look quite nice and seem reasonably priced ....
-
I'm curious as to why someone thinks a rotting old featureless 1958 airplane without engine is worth $15,000 when I think it's worth $500 as a kids playground feature?
Is there some restorers market thing going? Is this a "Classic" (cough, cough) and of some value? just trying to understand, nothing more.

Indeed, I just found him as well, Cliff Rudge of Roma and Nerang ...The last no. I had for him was 0417 710 481 and fax 07 5596 2594.http://www.aviationairparts.com/
Is he a fair minded Guy Ian?
Thanks guys!

Simple enough question, does anyone know "Cliff" the plane wrecker in Nerang? I have no idea private or professional.
There's a guy advertising lots of engines and plane stuff on Gumtree in "Nerang, Gold Coast West", lots of old crap but there's a few things of interest to me.

Well as one of the team who encased the Fairfield Hospital's old 250ft brick chimney in a steel exo-skeleton because it was flexing past the 3 meter limit on gusty days I might disagree!Brick chimneys are not built to flex. -
Just want to say if any of you out there don't know Wimp.com then make your way there and look around, it's almost always upbeat inspiring videos or science or other more mature and intelligent stuff.
Of course that means I don't understand most of it but there's some pretty pictures!

We're not as sorry as the other guys!Im sorry to inform you, I was an Embalmer for 14 yearsI got a tree tattoo and they mix with planes occasionally ....

Facthunter is quite correct, rings rotate in the bores and it varies greatly and can't be proved at what speed they will do so but average out to about 3 rpm per 1000 rpm. The more they rotate the more life you get as the wear is spread evenly over the bore and ring and is one of the reasons a pegged 2 stroke ring wears faster.I'm a little late with this one.....I have built many engines over the years and I always keep the ring gaps 120 deg apart including the 3 piece oil rings, they don't hold compression but they do hold oil.I also keep the gaps away from the thrust faces as much as possible.
Can win many Friday night beer workshop arguments with that one because it's SAE documented.
But it's good to have minimum leakage on new startup so nothing wrong with the practice of spacing them.

Bravo the Pilots!
As a very regular flyer I am glad and gives me confidence that they have the training to have such a good outcome.
