  1. I remember buying meat, when the local butcher shop had sawdust on the floor and a big wooden block to chop the meat on. The meat was then wrapped in paper and string tied around the paper, what I don`t remember, is, anyone getting sick from eating the meat. One needs to ask the question, Why are so many people getting sick these days?

    Frank.

mass immigration, importing disease strains that we have no defense to

  2. Over regulation is rarely fixed correctly by replacing it with no regulation........ People will always consider the system wrong more than right because the average position of just the right amount must by definition have a chunk of folk thinking too much and equally a chunk thinking too little.....

its always the closet communists that want everything controlled, live and let live

  3. It's the equivalent of turning the tap on to wash the dishes without draining the sink first. We have a growing mountain of legislation with very little effort at deleting or slightly adjusting the old.

I'm in favour of a rule which says for every new piece of legislation introduced and old one must be thrown out.

    thats better

  4. i think you people are under the illusion that the government got all the firearms in 1996? see most people dont go and kill others with firearms, the government does that (through army, police etc), most pre 96 firearms are still out there, then add imports (they check 1/100 containers), firearms made here etc.

for example norinco imported 600,000 sks (chinese ak-47) in the early 90's and only about 80,000 were handed back in, these sold for $150 in a wooden crate with ammo, another example is in nz no guns are registered and you can buy anything from an ak-47 to an uzi, and where are the mass shootings? they dont exist

  5. Lets step up a level......To me it matters much less as to who (singular or plural) pulled the trigger, of whatever gun(s) were used. The fact is, unarguably, that a heap of innocent people died....... You can look for fault all you like in the investigation and try and draw conspiracy here there and everywhere...but the dead are still dead!!! I believe I have seen reporting in the media (so yes some caution needed in taking that as absolute fact) that the amount of guns in Australia today is far in excess of the number prior to the massacre being discussed...perhaps its time for a repeat of the government actions.......Andy

really? the media states there are more guns now than before the Port Arthur thing and you think they have the right to take them?

there are more guns now, but being uninformed you fail to realise they are not centrefire self loading but mainly bolt action c/f and bolt/pump action rimfire, but the government being full of knobs like you banned pump action shot guns yet allowed pump action rifles which have a much greater range and stopping power....

  6. port arthur "massacre"

    NO dna

    NO ballistics evidence

NO id until bryant was shown in the paper

NO coronial inquest (illegal under Australian law)

shot witnesses who knew bryant who were shot point blank said it wasnt him

previous cafe owner who knew bryant said it wasnt him

code brown hospital training on at the exact same time with all the countries best doctors in tasmania

.223 AR15 & .308 SLR supposedly used yet doctors were pulling pellets from victims? (see news reports)

tas govt buys PAHS months before shooting

tas govt buys an F250 morgue truck, 22 bedder, the highest capacity in the country for the smallest state and offers it for sale soon after massacre

ALL "evidence" sealed for 50 years

bryant with "retard iq" shoots 25 in 29 seconds?

bryant left handed, shooter was right handed

only cops called away on fake drug bust that turned out to be soap before shooting and were stuck over a bridge and couldnt get back

it goes on and on and on, and they took our guns for it, thats a nanny/police/commy state....last post i promise, feel free to continue talking crap

  7. tbh im not trying to "troll" i only replied because the comments i saw in this thread disgust me, people these days are so gutless, weak and plain mean to their fellow brothers. this guy shouldnt have had any penalty, he flew stupidly and crashed, thats enough lesson learned, but anyone who supports a law for everything and this overbearing nanny/welfare/commy state we have turned into is an absolute fool who deserves the consequences of it.

  8. And you are showing a naivety that indicates either a serious lack of good education or a tendency to troll.....In the example that Tubs provided a very small percentage of the vic population will be disadvantaged by the greater majority who want them out.....The Gov knowing which side of the bread contains votes did what fundamentally the number one basis for Gov is, it took up the cause of the majority.....

We aviators are probably numerically very similar to the grazers in the example.....If you think it wont happen....here in Australia where Tall Poppy Syndrome was invented....then as previously said, you lack education or are trolling........In either case I cant help you so feel free to have the last word!

ah so if im not a sheeple i must be a troll right?

who is this great majority that wants them out? was it the left wing media or the government thats talking for this great majority? do these trendy tossers in Melbourne like to eat? because thats where it comes from.

  9. There are many examples where the actions of less than 5% of participants in activity, have seriously restricted that activity.Even when no member of an organization has done anything wrong, you can have your activity banned by governments who react emotionally to pressure groups.

The Victorian Government announced just today that Cattle grazing in Victoria's High Country has been banned.....and that's the total annual income for some farmers.

While it would seem grossly unfair to us for RA aircraft to be totally banned, don't kid yourself that it can't happen if someone does the unthinkable.

that can only happen when the weak and gutless allow it. honestly there are some stupid people here

  10. look at this guy here http://www.news.com.au/national/breaking-news/driver-who-killed-pedestrian-spared-jail/story-e6frfku9-1227267929710

A FATHER who killed a pedestrian after passing out from a whooping cough fit and losing control of his car has been spared an immediate jail term.

STEPHEN Gogos, 34, was driving through major road works in Forrestdale in November 2013 when he passed out.

His wife was forced to take the wheel and swerve to avoid traffic but the car crossed onto a gravel path and hit 20-year-old Bronwen Thurlow, who later died in hospital from "unsurvivable injuries". Gogos was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence in the District Court of Western Australia on Wednesday.

why was he even charged? driving a car is risky, shit happens and people die, does he deserve to be charged and go to jail? wtf is wrong with this country

  11. So, as long as there is no intention to hurt another then having a "bit of fun" is OK? So the guy who decides to do a few burn-outs in the street and a few drags up and down the road (not hurting anyone - but against the law) loses control and slams into a house, killing an occupant in the house (as happened in SA). So what, people die all the time, he had no intention of killing anybody - oh well that's life! But one innocent persons life is over, several others are affected for the rest of their life, not to mention the cost (oh it's OK, the house is insured - but the premiums go up so they still have to pay!) all because one person wanted the freedom to do what he wanted. You speak of rights, does one person have the right to take away the rights of another person? If I have the right to peace and quite does someone else have the right to take that away from me?For tens of thousands of years humans have lived in a society, from small groups up to millions of people. When ever you live in a society you sacrifice your freedoms for the benefits that society provides. Some societies expect a lot of sacrifice, some not as much - but all require some. If you are not prepared to make the sacrifice then you must leave society, and all that it provides, or be punished by the laws of that society. If you choose to leave then remember society, and it's people, indirectly provide your clothes, food, transport, shelter etc. Transport yourself to a deserted island with nothing- nothing manufactured, bought etc, and start from scratch - then you can be free to do what you want.

For those who think flying & driving is a right - think again. If they were basic human rights, or even social rights then why do we have a licence? In Australia we most likely have the right to apply for a licence but certainly do not have the right to fly without one, and when we do get a licence we certainly do not have the right to fly however we want, we must abide by the rules as dictated by society otherwise the licence will be taken from us, i.e. the privilege to fly will be revoked.

If you don't like this societies rules then try and find one more to your liking, maybe they will let you live there, but I can guarantee they will still have rules and regulations.

there will be dickheads everywhere no matter what laws you have, you are well indoctrinated though

  12. Hiya Bruce,. . . . .My Mother in law, who is 89 Yrs of age, and has advanced Alzheimers disease, is a resident of a care home, which costs her estate £813.64 PER WEEK. She has been in 2 previous care homes, requiring care to begin around three years ago.She has to stump up for her own care because she worked really hard since joining the land army during WW2 at the age of 15,. . . until she was Forced to retire from a department store at the age of 64. She and my deceased Father in law paid their way and bought a house which, at the time she became ill was valued at £230K.

Following the depletion of her savings and investments, (a total of £31K ) on the aforementioned care,. . .Her Home was sequestered by the local health authority to pay for her ongoing care. (Please stay with me here – I will get to the point of this post eventually. . .! ) If a person had NO personal funds,. . .the smae level of care would be paid for by the Government. . . . .

She requires round the clock monitoring and TWO professional care workers to hoist her out of her bed ( can’t stand – Knee Op screwed up by surgeons resulting in too much bone being removed from her legs so that the prosthetic knees could no longer be attached. . . ) and has to be washed, dressed and hand fed, so YES. . . I can see why her care costs as much as it does.

What I cannot UNDERSTAND is why it costs so much to keep a person in a prison.

Yes, they have to be fed and clothed, . . . but where does the rest of the money go ? ? ? Prison officers don’t get paid any more than bus drivers in the UK, . . .do they in Australia I wonder. . .?

Am I being patently naive here ? Does it REALLY cost 300 bucks daily to keep someone incarcerated,. . .I guess it depends upon the total number of prisoners, the type of prison, . .the ratio of prisoners per officer, how much ground rent they pay for the building, . . . how much profit they want. . . STILL. . seems a lot of dosh for bread and water three times daily, ( What ? they get better food ? . . .Why ? )

On the post topic,. . . I believe anyone who recklessly endangers both themselves and others by misuse of a machine, the operation of which they have no qualifiication to use,. . . .DESERVE nothing less than a custodial sentence of some sort. I appreciate what you say, but I really don't believe that the proverbial slap on the wrist ought to be applied in these cases.

    Phil

it is because most prisons are private, they get $xx per person, have a read http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-judge-receives-28year-jail-term-for-his-role-in--kidsforcash-kickbacks-8598147.html

  13. Not that easy . What I am getting at is that men used to be tough in this country but now everybody bends overs and takes it up the backside. No wonder the muslims are running riot in the middle east and here. We bend over backwards for the minority groups.

thats my point, every freedom we had has been legislated away for our "safety", all because for everything that can be done there are 100 nanny whingers against it.

for example a boxer died recently after a fight in QLD, so nanny state sooks are now saying we should ban boxing, so what people die every day, one fact is that every single one of you is going to die one day and there is nothing you can do about it, so instead of sooking about things and restricting yourself and others for "safety", enjoy your one and only life.

if some bloke wants to fly low and crash its his right to do so, if someone wants to take an axe and go on a killing spree its not his right to do so

in everything there is inherent danger, but as long as there is no intention to hurt another in the act then just mind your own business, have fun and get on with life

  14. ah so you decide what others human rights are?

millions have died in wars so men could be free, we battled communism in the cold war because it is not something we want to be involved in, yet now it seems many are indoctrinated with this crazy left wing communist/socialist attitude of rules and regulations and a full on nanny state where you cant do anything and nothing is free.

As they say Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety, that means you give up your rights to the government and they give a little back as a privilege and those who support them do this to themselves and deserve nothing.

you get what you deserve, better hope you dont get a sentence one day for breaking a nanny state rule.

  15. Frank I'm not saying it's right or wrong, simply trying to get across that flying is a privilege not a right as some seem to think. Its the same as driving a car or owning a gun, if you don't follow the rules the privilege will be revoked."We" referred to RA-AUS, the association of members. You'd be crazy to think the actions of one individual wouldn't bring the association (or recreational aviation in general) to the attention of CASA. I'm not saying that is the case here, but we shouldn't condone acting outside of the regulations or conditions of exemptions.

flying is a privilege? no. its a human right. only someone with Stockholm syndrome would call it a privilege.

  16. We operate on exceptions to certain regulations, under strict conditions. Should the regulator believe we aren't adhering to these conditions or that it's no longer in the public's safety they can withdraw them at any time. A good example would be the Jabiru Engine, a few bad types of engines but it was easier to enforce on the whole lot.I'm not supporting the case for it to happen so can't really give you a reason for it, but if CASA were to believe there was a major issue within RA-AUS (training, pilot airmanship, maintenance) you can bet they will act swiftly and ask questions later. (I'm not suggesting there is any such issue).

really? how many times do we need to hear this "public safety" bullshit?

its like the gun licensing system in this country, you must follow all of these overbearing bs rules that have nothing to do with safety, so the government can tell everyone they are keeping them safe, what about the 10,000 isis supporters the government imports into sydney and melbourne every week? can we legislate ourselves into safety?

jabirus suck and i would never fly with one, i was smart enough to work that one out without the government telling me so

  17. Acro, you've clearly had a run in with the Regulator, and bear a grudge. None of us are really satisfied with their performance, and that's why we all contributed to the Forsyth Inquiry last year. Did you? We can only change behaviour by concerted effort.I'm the first to oppose 'strict liability' on such petty misdemeanours as not carrying ones' licence. It has to be changed so that pilots have the same rights to presumption-of-innocence as any other Australian.

As for 'making mistakes'............... well, in 52 years of flying I've made many. In at least 4 instances it involved being asked to show cause why my licence,(CPL), should not be suspended. It involved a lengthy grilling by an FOI, or several in the same room. In not one of those cases was the action taken any further than a very robust discussion behind a closed door. I could see their interpretation, and they could see mine.

I'm not in any way saying that CASA don't get it wrong. They often do. But we either live within the regulations, or we fight for change.

In this low flying case, the pilot clearly offended against CAR 157 - because the evidence was overwhelming. He would have had no valid reason to fly low, (as provided in the exemptions to CAR 157), and my money is on his never having held any formal low flying qualification as well. All the other waffle about RAAus certificates and registrations is just peripheral to this case. He flew low - and he was nicked. End of story.

and why cant he fly low? if he wants to fly low thats his choice, if he wants to fly high thats his choice, its this nanny state attitude thats wrong, he doesnt have a "valid reason?" why should he need a "valid reason?" having fun is a valid reason, its his life, it isnt owned by the communists that crave control.

as for casa read this http://vocasupport.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Wilga-Tail-Tale.pdf

thats just the tip of the iceberg

  18. and what about the people around them? should they be forced to live with the consequences of your decisions? I'm not familiar with these "god given rights", where is written that you have a right to fly? Don't get so caught up with rights that you completely forgot about responsibilities.

    thats life! shit happens
