  1. So where do you get plans to build these?

    Gotta love the media...

Yep the media is always right :-) 074_stirrer.gif.5dad7b21c959cf11ea13e4267b2e9bc0.gif maybe that's why jab engines fail because they are built by amateurs not by professionals like jabiru would have us believe throw_tomato.gif.8a27f69a28c208ea05bc7ad066007de8.gif (all said in good fun no disrespect of jabs meant)

  2. Hello OzzieYou are not alone with the frustration, I have my renewal sitting here:- Under photographs required:- [] "Warning placard" wait for it (closer photo) yes true..

Well the plane was regestered originaly then get it through the debacle last year, now this. Come on someone is having an air brain moment.

I think the goal posts have great big wheels under them.

    Regards

    Keith Page.

I had a similar thing Keith with the new rego of my hornet when it came through they asked for a photo of warning placard on dash which was supplied with original paperwork, I rang them and asked if they got the photo they answered yes, I asked why the request for another and they answered they wanted a closer one. The one I sent was easily readable. But nevertheless another photo I will take and send off.

I must say though that all the people I spoke to on the phone were extremely helpful and friendly it was well worth the time to call them and talk to them:cell:

  3. After finding the battery flat, I asked my instructor, as innocently as possible, if we could push start the the aircraft. His expression was priceless.dodo

I saw a video once not sure if it was on here or not but it was of some people tow starting an engine by wrapping the tow rope around the spinner, I can't remember the plane or the engine but it was a sight to behold.

    Ps it worked

IMHO it sounds like at least camit is trying to address the known problems with the jab engine which is a start, will it be more reliable or will other problems plague it? Who knows but I for one would like to see it succeed. I mean who wouldn't like to see an Australian built engine with good reliability. We have a rotax in ours I won't say it was mainly because of reliability but I will say that my wife is happy with their reputation (maybe she doesn't want to get rid of me yet:wink:)

  5. My TIF this time last year I was taken over my town so I could enjoy the scenery of our lake and surrounding areas, while I had a fair bit of time on the stick and rudder (just basic straight and level, and turns (although it's fair to say I felt like I was flying myself!)). While I won't speculate on the above schools intentions, it was clear that the views that could be seen up there were a big part of what gets a lot of potential students back to our school for more lessons. That combined with my instructors very good (IMO) interaction with me, and making me feel at ease, is why I'm still flying

    Exactly.

I thought the whole idea of advertising was to butter things up and make it look inviting no matter what it is, so I don't see anything wrong with advertising "scenery" alongside the TIF. As long as it is made clear to said customer that it definitely is a tif. I also don't see anything wrong with the customer choosing the direction or location of the tif after all I thought the idea of a tif was to get more people interested in learning to fly and what better way of doing that than showing them what their house or town looks like from up there:spot on:. I can still remember my tif I was so impressed by it that I made my wife and dad go for one too.

But I can also see how this can be seen as such a grey area but remember if there were no grey areas in life we wouldn't have any lawyers around and how sad would that be:wink:

  6. hey what do u think of your aak hornet price etc flying etc

G'day Jeff, I'm not sure how it will fly yet but will know soon, as for price I think it's resonable (don't tell Ole I said that:whisper:)

Especially when you weigh up the fact it's local and for me anyway it is only a short drive to the factory if I have troubles. The style of the hornet isn't for everyone but will suit me just fine.

Ps scotty might be able to tell you a little about their flying characteristics if you bribe him right:high 5:

  7. No I don't have a link to those stats m6 it was just what was passed on to our local rescue squad by the local crash investigators, and those stats don't include accidents where no one was killed, they are only fatalities.

  8. Pottie think back to the good old days and what's really different to now.you where in your twenties!

    no mortgage

    no kids

new girl friend every 6-9 months

every job was better paying and more interesting than the one you left

you are at your physical peak, your reflexes where at their best, muscle strength was increasing as was endurance.

your cognitive skills weren't 100% but they where pretty close and getting better.

psychologically, not as many bad life experiences to undermine you in risky situations

and no dependants so no risk of leaving a grieving widow and family behind if you kill yourself.

less regulations and training are a small part of that equation

This topic is a big waste of time. FT do you have any kids? Are you saying losing a child in their twenties wouldn't make you grieve? How thoughtless of you to make a comment like that.

I'm only young (still in my twenties) but was taught from a young age to respect my elders, I personally don't mind older people flying as if I make it to that age I would still like to be able to fly. But I guess now you will say that only people your age should fly? SDQDI is probably too young and not mentally developed enough to be flying:loopy:(a few people would probably agree with you on that one:yes:) but at the end (actually at the start of the day before we even go) of the day we need to take responsibility for our own flying.

Also what causes more accidents ? Pilot error or pilot age related incapacitation? (is that the right word?) in my opinion it would be pilot error which is under no circumstances limited to a certain age bracket.

Also statistically in cars the young males outdo all other groups for popping up dead seems we get a bit too cocky (yeah I get that way too:happy:)

Ok I've really blabbed on too much now

  9. Dazza, at what age in your perfect world does an average pilot become a "pretty dumb **** pilot" who needs to trade his pilot's licence for a pair of knitting needles? In every aspect of human activity there exists a ceertain percentage of 'pretty dumb **** whatevers" - it's a component part of being human, so I take umbrage at your labelling me a 'pretty dumb **** pilot" just because I'm in my mid seventies and have occasionally been known to make an error of judgement. In your omniscience, please advise at what age I should have euthanized myself so as to not impinge upon your perfect world? This post could be my polite way to imply that you can get stuffed but then again, perhaps we can chalk it up to senility and no knitting needles?

Don't take dazza too serious Riley I read a second post of his on the same day and it sounded to me like he had a bad day, we all have those days where other operators make our day bad.

As a side note reading in December mag Brian's column he thinks we all need a psychological test before we get our licence, but IMHO if we got rid of any pilot/car driver who was a threat none of us would be flying or driving. Just like a good driver is someone who takes their time and watches not only the road but also other users, a good pilot should be someone who is patient flys sensibly and expects others to make mistakes. I've found on the road that getting cranky at other drivers generally causes me to make mistakes.

  10. Home is where the heart is gents, sometimes when you open you eyes your just glad to be anywhere. Makes you want another drink to calm the nerves. Enough of this, you'll get me a bad reputation and that will drive me to drink. Going to Taree tomorrow, either of you coming across?Cheers Scotty

Not now:poking: just kidding, not planning on going over again till rego comes through

  11. All of the above are the reasons I shut my eyes. What I can't see can't scare me. I've also never seen a bad landing.Cheers Scotty

    Rego back yet Sam.

Long time no see scotty, no I'm still waiting on rego 078_pc_revenge.gif.92f2d38a0e662b2e0b6cba4dc0ba5c35.gif I'm checking my emails about once every ten minutes, not getting any work done but don't tell dad

  12. My reply is a bit dodgy coz I'm texting while driving in Pacific Highway traffic...

095_cops.gif.448479f256bea28624eb539f739279b9.gif026_cheers.gif.2a721e51b64009ae39ad1a09d8bf764e.gif070_sleep.gif.1c8d367a0c12958f2106584470af404d.gif I know and that extra drink only made you sleepy but it could be worse after all each side of the road has four lanes which is a lot better than the two each way that it had this morning

  13. I have a red 2 next to the chat tab on my tool bar similar to the numbers that pop up for the alerts but when I click on the chat tab it opens up and has different chat rooms none of which have any content or other users and I can't get any messages from there.

I was wondering just how to use it properly and wondering if there is any messages there just how do I find them? Or is it when the other person trying to chat to me logs off does the conversation disappear?

Thanks in advance for any help

  14. According to the police CIU or CUI the five reasons for fatal car crashes in order

1: inattention or distraction( texting, talking, changing radio, etc)

    2: fatigue

    3: alcohol, drugs

4: mechanical ( wheels, brakes, steering failure, overloaded)

    5: speed

Obviously the more you add together the worse it will be but being distracted is the most deadly of all and also the easiest to do and it doesn't have to be something illegal that distracts you, I often think the things you love the most also distract you the most ie kids and spouse
