  1. It is a shame she is leaving, I am happy to have flown and visited the cockpit on atleast one. -EBV is currently over at the Sydney Jetbase awaiting its ferry flight. I recieved an email about this aswell, and is a shame I have to work otherwise I would come up to see her off!
  2. Well, just incase I want to hop into my super constellation and head over to the states by (insert however many stops here), I think I will get the to leave it as is :P
  3. I noticed this when looking at the new ESTA online application form for the USA, in the drop down list under Qantas Airways it has Qantas Empire Airways.
  4. Just watch out with Brand Depot as the security guards there seem to have a problem with spotters spotting from there. Normally a good explination and some plane talk seems to let them know you are gen, if not they can always ask the AFP (Not sure if they ask APS or ACT Policing) who will 99% of the time have no problem with you spotting. And Glenn, if you do come on down make sure you give your Canberra Moderator a call (And don't get lost!) :P.

    9m-mrd

I think 9M-MRD has one of the most spectacular paint schemes out there. I have only seen it in the flesh once, and my god I was impressed!
  6. I Think the E-Jet order is pretty much done.... And actually just looking at the Virgin Blue website 11 E190's, 3 E170's were ordered with 6 options. -ZPL makes 12 E190's and -ZHF makes 6 E170's which makes a total of 18 leaving 2 of it's options still to be taken.
  7. I got to see 'Nancy Bird Walton' for the first time up as close as I can possibly get (Unless I get a transfer to Sydney Airport), and boy does she look just dandy! Cannot wait to get some photos of her, and her two sister aircraft!
  8. Hello Airsick, and welcome to another Canberran on these forums. I will probably see you rolling past while I am driving my buggy around the RPT Apron or waving in Dash 8's!
  9. Now I believe this is the word I am looking for.... Bienvenue! I do hope you enjoy your stay here at TAA, feel free to browse and if you take photos, recordings, videos or any other information which you find interesting feel free to post it. It is always good to see international content, and a view from halfway across the world!
  10. A Big welcome to you Jim, Always good to have aircraft owners and more pilots onboard the forums! However, flying over the Bass Straight in a Jabiru, I think I will take being a passenger in a Dash 8 :P
  11. Hi Daryl, welcome to TAA. Feel free to post and browse through the many great resources found on the left hand side of the screen! Enjoy your stay
  12. A belated happy 2009 to you all (I have been working the last 7 or so days, mostly on earlys!), and hope you all had a good night on NYE. I was lucky enough to have travelled Business Class to Sydney and spent the night with some good mates before returning the next day for work! Fun times.
  13. Work. Christmas day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Not that I am complaining much, working full time shifts with penalty rates :P

    Santas

I go away for a holiday only to find it has all be changed. Very nice Glenn, love the look.
  15. So you hate Vista, yet you want to go back to it? The mind Boggles. Vista is a lovely cosmetic change over XP with a few new gadgets that make it look purdy, does not run as well but it is nicer to use than XP. I would have gone for the Mac, although I hate the layout their design and functions are top notch. And yes, Robbo, Microsoft love tracking cookies. Its good to see where people go and exactly what they do, then they can market items to people where they need it the most!

  17. Good day all, Sunday 26th October marks the (Seemingly now annual) Canberra Airport Open Day. On display will be a Qantas Aircraft (Most likely a 763, it was last year!), A Virgin Blue Aircraft (My punt is for an E190, last year it was an E170) and a Brindabella Airlines Aircraft (Taking all bets for a J41) plus many other aircraft. Along with this there will be an F/A 18 Hornet display, fun activities, displays of many kinds and Airside Tarmac Tours! The event will run from 9.30 till 13:30 and parking is located off Molongolo Drive in the Brindabella Business Park. A Link to the PDF File can be found here http://www.canberraairport.com.au/PDF/openday.pdf Hope to see you all there ;)

  19. I have a similar post on another forum, but here is one for TAA.net. Canberra Airport is currently undergoing upgrades of the Terminal, roads, and within the Three business Parks surrounding the airports. This thread is here for myself and anyone else who would like to add to this. Currently roadworks are underway in the airport area. Delays are frequent, especially during peak times due to this. Internal roads, Tyson Dr for example, has been diverted due to carpark expansion. Carparks at the virgin end of the terminal are now closed for roadway diversion of Terminal Cct due to construction commmencing soon. At the Qantas end, security has been expanded. Baggage services has moved from it's temp location back to a refurbished office. Upstairs a blocked off ramp which linked the two terminal ends (Albeit closed off) has been partially reopened with a dual ramp, one goes to an upper level 'private' lounge according to the signage, and the other is blocked off.
  20. Yes Bio, or Biography Channel is Pay TV.
  21. Has been on for a while, but for those who enjoy the Airline Series (the USA Version that was on 7/Prime/GWN for a while last year and the year before) it can be viewed at 8pm Monday to Friday on Channel 115 Bio. For those who have never watched it, Airline USA follows the trials and tribulations of those working for Southwest Airlines in a few different ports.
  22. You can actually block your page from users you do not know. The person will not be able to see your picture, will not be able to view any major personal information, but you can see their name (And sometimes location) for people who are searching for you to add you as a friend. I have a facebook and a Bebo, bebo is the least used of the two but both are great to find some long lost friends and to keep in touch with your friends by posting on their wall, sharing photos and videos and also meeting new people. If a perosn creates a fake persona, or is trying to discredit someone you can actually apply to Facebook or Bebo to have the account removed. But it is up to the person as to if you want one, I do and I find it a great way to keep in touch, but I can also have my own animations and join/create groups of interest.

  24. Alrighty petals it is time to settle. Constructive replies are welcome, along with constructive debating however no childish replies and people dissing other peoples opinons.
  25. Why? Its a good tool, it not only shows you what the world is like from the air but from the ground aswell. Great if you are planning a road trip, or looking for a mates house for example. Even just viewing where you are going, it is almost like ground view on a GPS just with real life pictures! And as all the photos are taken from public land, there is not much anyone can really do about it.
