  2. Would be interested in the flight path to Sing Darren..would that have

been her usual route or slightly different to normal? She flew over

Moyhu here (King Valley ) on the normal Sydney flight path so I just

assumed she was heading to Sydney first..the other internationals seem

to take a more western path over Shepparton way (or maybe the Brisbane

traffic)? I'm keen to learn about flight paths.

  3. Hi Darren..yes it did look great..I got thrown by the greenish tinge..still not sure whether that was just my tinted binocs or if the gleaming sun picked up the green out of the blue... more than the normal blue tone I'm used too..looked good! How many trips a week does she do Darren? I'll try to keep an eye out for her more often.I thibnk I always just assumed she went direct from YMML but I guess it makes sense to pick up the Sydney passnegers as well.

  4. Yep feels good Chainy..thanks! Think it looks a bit different in the sky to the second photo of Jack's on the ground as you see more of the underside up there. To think my binocs altered the perception of colour just enough to confuse me. I had seen the plane before but not often..guess that flight might only go a few times a week and not every day..... and I had assumed it went directly north rather than via Sydney.

I'll have to use my other binocs in future when spotting..my good ones..otherwise I'll be identifying Jetstar planes as Virgin Blue ones! I'll save the older ones for spotting cows or ride on mowers in the paddocks! :)

  5. Think I have solved it . Vietnam Airlines. Melair has its pushback at 11.02 and UA 840 at 11.18..must have been a slight delay on tarmac as only 5 minutes apart when they overflew here in Moyhu just south of Wang.

    .

Thanks to one of Gi Jacks photos.....this looks very similar to what I saw..with the colour on top right up to the nose. I realised before I was using an old pair of binocs with tinted lenses and this must have altered the blue top to a more turquoise colour. Thanks for the pics Jack..helped me to i.d it.

Having said that though, does Viet have two colour schemes? See the two photos Jack has provided..are these the same or different schemes?. I saw the first one.

    See Jacks great pics below.

Thanks to Robbo and Chainy for their ideas and inputs on the id.

  6. Thanks for checking Robbo.

Could have been Cathay but I think the turqouise green extended all the way along the top to cabin..and rest of undercarriage etc was metallic rather than white...it was gleaming in the sun..seemed to be turqouise but the sun tended to highlight the greenness in the paint if that makes sense. It was heading into the sun so I couldnt quite get all the view I wanted as I had to look away. Was exactly 4-5 minute ahead of UA 840..actually thought it was UA coming so grabbed the glasses but it beat UA by 4-5 minutes.

  7. LOL..I thought you or Chainy might say that Robbo..you are right of course..I will put it on my shopping list or Christmas list. Mr Rudds cheque arrvied on Wednesday and its all gone already on paying bills! :)

p.s tattslotto tonight will change things!

  8. Hi all..can anyone help me with a plane / flight id? Beautiful greeny blue turqouise colour on top gleaming in the sun. Flew over King Valley here near Wangaratta at approx 11.45-11.50 a.m, about 5 minutes before UA 840..I'm assuming it was heading to Sydney. Nothing else showed up around that time on melair.com except a Vietnam Airlines flight which I thought is more of a blue plane..this plane was more of a turqoise green/blue and the greenness came out strongly in the sunshine.

I'm sure I know the airline answer or have seen this plane before but my brain can't figure it out.

    Any ideas? Thanks Tim

  9. Thanks Darren..yep it seems that to be the case. .Hey Robbo are you doing an Easter Egg drop up here next week? My chimney is blocked so I can arrange to either catch them or set up something soft so they arrive safe and sound!

Seriously, will you be overflying here or landing Benalla? What is most likely day?

  10. Was just thinking...if there were normal engine contrails as well as the wing tip trail, that would suggest some condensation occuring? But as there were no normal engine contrails at all and the aircraft was reasonably low, would that suggest there wouldn't be any other condensation and that the fuel theory might be the most likely in this case?

Am enjoying all the contributions and thoughts on this one. Oh, QF 093 flew over this morn, again reasonably lower than a Virgin Blue flight that was just ahead of it..normal contrails today and nothing from wing tip. Cheers Tim

  11. Think I'm on my 3rd but most likely 4th fuel cap for my little Mazda 121! I seem to make a habit of leaving them behind. I'm fully expecting them to turn up as a special collection on an episode of the Collectors one night! Thank heavens I'm not flying..thats one forgetful habit I would have to lose fast!
