Its on again this weekend!
Sunday is shaping up to be rainy and/or cloudy. I have the option to go either day or both.
Warren Wind Sports Weather cam appears to be no more.
The nearest OzRunways weather cam appears to be Mittagong.
I guess I'll just need to cross my fingers and wait

It'll get off the ground no problem because that is the way it was designed. The take off distance required and the landing distance required might be more than you have available, which might be a problem139 kg allowed for me plus fuel for a O-235 would not get off the ground! -
...and none from the surgeryI thought the RAAF centenary was celebrated at Pt Cook on 2 March 2014. I remember it well, as I arranged to have my cancer surgery deferred so I could attend, and went under the knife two days after the airshow. I have a total of 63 photos from the airshow.- 1

About the same time Telecom became Telstra I watched some of those still employed drop dead from heart attacks. In one case, the day before he was due to retire. Let's have some more aviation humour?

This is the difference between BS and lies. Pay attention @fly_tornado because I'm talking about you.
When "management" tells the workers BS, there is no relationship between what they say and what they do, or the truth. The BS doesn't defend or predict future actions nor does it have a relationship to any agreed facts.
A lie is when someone says something which is proven to have been known as incorrect, in relation to agreed facts.
When I hear "people are our most important asset" I hear BS. When that information is attached to actions like "people are our biggest asset which is why we (insert action here)" its probably not BS but also not a good seam to mine for humor.

Yes but not because of Lightning. The low radar observable paint/coating doesn't do well in rain and needs to be touched up IMO. AFAIK the coating is common or very similar between the F-22 and F-35. One imagines it doesn't like being blasted by rain at 300m/sWasn't there a display somewhere where they wouldn't bring it out because it was raining? -

JM I think you made my point for me. The dwelling resale value increase because a nice green field that somebody else is paying for appears next door ... has nothing to do with the fields usefulness during times of disaster.
People should think that way but don't.
The east coast latte sucking set, of which I am a member, don't think that way. They just see rich old men with too much time drowning worms from a tin dinghy. You can guess which ones are on the council. Hint: its not the boat ramp users

Nobody is flying over the neighbours heads to get to the sports fields so having it next door is quite ok?No return on local parks and sportfields, whats the difference. -

Concept aviation would most probably had included one with other goods if you asked

...and I really don't need another hobby

I had a long hard look at this recently. There are some PPC instructors working between Canberra and Goulburn. I can't personally recommend any of them but I'd have no hesitation in taking the time to visit with all of them. Accomodation will always be the sticking point while training. Weather comes a close second but a lot of the theory just needs somewhere quiet out of the wind

Not too far from Canberra. By road for me, this timeI see airventure Australia is going to be at Parkes NSW 20-22sept 2019. Since it's only 33 miles I will be going in the Thruster. It would be great to get a bunch of traditional tube and rag ultralights attending, anyone up for it ?.

There is pretty much nothing open to the public, east of Braidwood (disused) or south of Jervis Bay until you get to Moruya ... unless you have something that can land on water or a helicopter.
As a regular visitor to that part of the coast I find the lack of aviation noise quite noticeable. I've only seen aircraft flying between Woollongong and Canberra or Wollongong and Moruya.
In between Burrier and the Shoalhaven river you might find Yalwal which is west of Nowra and not really on the coast.
There is what appears to be a cleared field 800 x 150 metres angled at about Magnetic north at Woollamia Rd Woollamia and inside the Nowra control zone. Also near there is the Woollamia Visual reporting point WOI.
For me the biggest issue wouldn't be finding somewhere to land, more like how to get into the nearest town. I will speak to the NSW Parks people when I am there again at Easter.
What are you planning to fly and land?

Who named the airport? Did anyone check to see who named it?
I'm not kidding. Go check and PM me. I'm surprised @fly_tornado let this one slip through, being the total fact hound this forum user has been in the past

Hands up all those people jumping to conclusions about the circumstances immediately before the incident and the root cause?

I was in Tasmania over the Christmas break. Unfortunately no flying for me, then.We will try & send some warmth up from TasmaniaApart from the mild conditions I was very grateful to be under the flight path between Devonport YDPO and George Town YGTO. I saw a greet variety of planes every day. Someone appeared to be giving rides in a Chipmunk. I didn't see any drifters (doesn't mean there aren't any).
I can now understand the attraction of the North East of Tasmania. Anyone who moans about the winters being cold hasn't compared them with Canberra Winters. The summer isn't being very kind to either place this time. I saw the smoke from the Bruny Island bushfire plus the smoke over Hobart (fortunately the latter on TV).
