  1. Pete, 32 - so not too many, thanks for asking. Thanks for the replies fellas. That list is a great help Brent - starting to make sense of it all. One thing though. What did you mean by:- "The SP had extras that made the LSA55 a better aircraft (like the stretched fuselage), but rather than spend a million re-certifying, the factory LSA55 stayed the same and the Kit SP was sold and eventually in a way evolved into the J160." Why were the extras detrimental? I'm guessing the longer fuse hampered the performance???

    Jabiru types

Can someone point me to a site which lists all the models of Jabirus ever made? I often hear of a model I had never previously heard of and have gone looking for a list but am yet to find one. The Jabiru website lists current models only (as far as I can find) A mate just bought a nice little s/h LSA55 which started me thinking. (dangerous I know) Mark
  3. Thanks, I do try.
  4. Apparently he didn't realise his two fingers were gone until he went to say goodnight to the boss.
  5. O.M.E, your blood's worth bottling. Spot on. I have customers that service their own machines 'by the book' and when the gear fails and they come to us they cannot tell me what they set the valve clearances to (or in fact what valve clearance is) Next time I go to my Doctor I will google my symptoms and halve the fee by telling the Doc what's wrong with me and how to fix it. Don't even get me started on my accountant's fees. (but we still pay them) I don't see too many extremely fat and rich LAME's out there. Mark
  6. Bert Flood has some and from memory they are in a box.
  7. I must be thick skinned. (or just thick) I did not realise that Rufus was having a go at any one. I thought it was a fun question. Mark D
  8. Big Pete wrote: "Hey Mark - the last I heard was the battery was faulty and sent back. " Correct. "So - the new one was no better " Correct. "(Please reply non cryptic and at least six words in the sentence):big_grin:" Am waiting on a beefed up replacement - will report the whole saga once it arrives and is tried. In the meantime I fitted a Yuasa lead acid out of stock (YTX14-BS) and it spins the Rotax like a Battling Top. Mark D
  9. Ewan, Big Pete is the full bottle here. He has been there done that. After reading the info on the invitation and talking with Pete it seems they pick you and your gear up from your plane, take you by shuttle bus to a football field in Lara (set up with portable amenities) and run you to and from the Air Show - all gratis. Lots of other good things for pilots too. Pete, how about a rundown of the procedures? Hope this helps. Mark D
  10. I have and yes "TGTBT"
  11. They have computers in Nepal? Or did China have them all shot?
  12. Big Pete, Haven't yet visited Cliffy. Will do soon. Sounds like a good day for the Petes. Regards, Mark. PS Heard a whisper you have been doing some STOL stuff recently - well done.
  13. Pitfield, I can't help you much as I did not consider a 701 at all. My decision was due to a friend owning a Savvy and speaking to a few other Savannah owners regarding their planes and their building experience. The kit from ICP is pretty well made and thought out. I served an airframe apprenticeship as a kid and wasn't dissapointed too often with the build. The instruction book on the other hand...............(someone should be horsewhipped) A very good man to help you out here would be John Gilpin. He has heaps of experience with both Savannah and 701. He is a member here and may read this - I hope so as I would like to read his response to your question. I suppose I should add that I am very happy with my a/c. Hope this is of some help. Mark
  14. I think the reason we should check the coils on shutdown is the fact that coils can often fail once hot. While they checked out OK on startup when cold it does not necessarily mean they are performing when hot. Mark
  15. Ben, Your strip looks great. I am fortunate in that my plane lives at the mate's farm eleven minutes from my home. He had an existing hanger and built another for my plane and one other. (see photos - soon to be flashed and painted. Was fun to build out of stuff we both had lying around. Some new materials but mainly used.) Airstrip is a five acre irrigation bay - flat as and north south. Will take some up to date aerial shots and post them. Did I mention I was pretty lucky? Mark
  16. Any one planning on attending the Elmore Field Days this year? We are exhibiting our Savannah on site 320. (Site is under Kyabram Motorcycles & Power Equipment. You shouldn't be able to miss the taxi yellow Savvy.) If you have the opportunity you can fly in to the Field Days Airstrip - see ERSA for details. Be good to meet some forum members - stop by for a cuppa or a softy. Mark Dunwoodie
  17. Ken, A long way from Kilcoy I'm afraid. Lake Cooper is near a small central Vic town called Corop which is in between Bendigo and Shepparton. Once we landed it turned out we knew a few of the riders. They were tickled. Not much difference between motorbike people and plane people I reckon. How's your new Savvy going? Mark
  18. Saw a group of MX bikes having fun on the dry bed of Lake Cooper last Saturday afternoon. Dropped in to say hello. Liked the photo. Mark
  19. Cool as can be Keith. Well done. Mark
  20. Up and away Little bloke is in the air!
  21. What the devil has happened here to cause this much friction? Have a read of the first post again. This is not Nuremberg stuff. Time to calm down and take a good look look at oneself. MND
  22. Pete, Don't think I'll make the Guinness Book but very nearly done. Mark N.D.
  23. Howdy Ken, Thanks for the great photo. We have been watching your plane in the for sale section and are very glad it has gone to a good home. Speaking of which your hanger looks to be a pearler - what is the story there? What are your plans re flying the Savvy? Long trips and sprints? Would love to see and hear more detail of your plane. Regards, Mark D

    Hi

Howdy Alan, Good luck with your engine search. Mark
  25. Hate to wet on your bonfire Ozzie but Professor John Robinson had one of these in 1965. It was a beauty too, all covered in aluminium foil.
