  1. Hi Rocketman,

The dent is hardly bad at all just a line across the tube about 30mm long and 2 or 3mm deep at the deepest point tapering out to nothing at the ends, it is approximately 200mm behind the roll bracket - hang bolt assembly. I didn't bother trying to get an opinion from the manufacturer as in my experience there is nothing to be gained for them to give it the o.k but plenty to lose if it goes awry so they will always err on the side of caution ( rightly so) and recommend tests be done or the part replaced, the testing would probably cost more than the part. As far as repairs, I guess you probably require testing as well, if it was a $10k part you might look at it.

One thing is for sure, it is not worth the risk to myself or my passenger for any amount of money.

Now if those transport operators could just get their act together there is some enjoyment waiting to be enjoyed.

    Thanks for your interest

    Regards Bill

  2. Hi all

Just staggering from one disaster to the next over here.

My new keel pole arrived today after my credit card took the required pounding as Eastmeg so cleverly described the vacuum created in my account (for those interested it cost $369.55 for the tube and $227.45 freight ). The excitement didn't last long because the parcel was damaged far worse than the one it is replacing (see pic) so I refused to sign for it and the last I heard it was on the truck on its way back to Melbourne and then I suppose the U.K

The good news is having sent pictures and documentation over it sounds like that nice girl at P&M (att Crezzi ;)) is going to send out another one without waiting for the first one to get back there 011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif

  3. It was entertainment night at the Senior Centre. Claude the hypnotist exclaimed: 'I'm here to put you into a trance; I intend to hypnotize each and every member of the audience.'

The excitement was almost electric as Claude withdrew a beautiful antique pocket watch from his coat. 'I want you each to keep your eye on this antique watch. It's a very special watch. It's been in my family for six generations.'

He began to swing the watch gently back and forth while quietly chanting:

'Watch the watch, watch the watch, and watch the watch...'

The crowd became mesmerized as the watch swayed back and forth, light gleaming off its polished surface. Hundreds of pairs of eyes followed the swaying watch, until, suddenly, it slipped from the hypnotist's finger and fell to the floor, shattering into a hundred pieces.

    sh#t said the Hypnotist.

It took three days to clean up the Senior Centre

  4. Hi Paul,

I am intersted in fitting Tundra type tyres to my Pegasus as I live close to the 90 mile beach, it seems like a very long landing strip going to waste if I stick with the cheese cutters it (the trike) was born with.

I am wondering what parts you used to convert yours and where you sourced them from ?

    Any info appreciated

    Regards Bill

  5. Hi all,

Having looked in every crevice and under every rock I couldn't find a keel anywhere in Oz so I spoke to a lovely girl with an English accent on the phone last night and she has promised to send me one out immediately after she debits my credit card the appropriate amount

    Regards Bill

  6. Hi Adrian,

No joy yet, I have a bloke who thinks he may have one in the shed and although I have let it be known that I am quite keen to get something happening I haven't heard anything yet, I've sent e-mail to both the oz distributor and the manufacturer in the U.K but as yet have not had a response.

    Thanks for your interest

  7. Hi all,

Sunday morning didn't start well, 5am start, drove the 220+ kms to the airfield where I am doing my training, 8am get the wing out and with the cfi holding my hand I start assembling it. All goes well until I put the hang-bolt in and tried to push the base back over the contol bar, a bit of resistance as the front wheel mounts the bar so push a little harder with no result. The cfi steps in at this point to investigate why it won't go any further, after a while he notices the plastic stopper on the back of the pylon has been rotated 180 degrees and is contacting the keel tube this has put a small dent in the tube consequently my recently aquired trike is grounded until a new keel tube is found. How the 088_censored.gif.2b71e8da9d295ba8f94b998d0f2420b4.gif that stopper got turned around is beyond me given it takes a major effort to rotate it one handed and it couldn't have been like that when it was packed up. Anyway there is nothing to be gained worrying about that, so my next problem is to tarck down a new keel tube for a pegasus Q2 wing so if anybody knows of a new or second hand one available that would save me ordering one from England I would appreciate it.

    Regards Bill

  8. Hi Terry

    Welcome to the forum.

I was wondering how you where going, then I saw your mate's post the other day and I figured his partner in crime would have to be you. It's good to here you are enjoying your new toy.

I recently bought a Pegasus but I still have a couple of trips over the mountain before I can bring it home.

    Regards Bill

  9. I have wings

    Hi all

I recently purchased a trike, she's a beauty :) .I managed to tick all the boxes regarding the advice given to me by you guys and it has worked out well.

I passed my solo exam last week and had 2 days flying in perfect conditions at Porepunka. Flying your own trike over the chalet on top of Mount Buffalo - life surely is good.

    Regards Bill

  10. Hi all,

I was recently doing some theory work where we discussed the reflex bridle and how it puts an upward curve into the back of the wing to pull the aircraft out of a dive without pilot input, now in my dreamtime (thats where look at different web sites regarding trikes and their specs and think about what it would be like to be able to afford one like that) I see Topless Wings, great looking, easier to set up, apparently great handling characteristics (if you believe the testimonials) and lower hangar clearance requirement. So how do they achieve the safety that the reflex bridle provides ?

    Regards Bill

  11. Thanks Guys, that all sounds like good advice. I was trying to avoid involving a third party due to the hassle of getting vendor, purchaser, and an expert in the same place at the same time and all that has to fit in with my dairy cows, and you know how fickle 230 females could be :-)

    Regards Bill.

  12. Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a trike, having completed 8 hours training and about 4 theory, so have very little knowledge compared to a lot of you.

I have just got onto an airborne edge with a 582 rotax and a wizard wing which I have to go and inspect soon and I am wondering could people experienced with these aircraft give me some clues as to what to look for regarding wear and tear accident damage etc., mostly regarding the more expensive items that may need repair or replacement. Do these engines have a set number of hours when they need to be overhauled or does it just go on general condition ?

    Thanks Bill

  13. The Pipistrel

Hi Airsick, I'm new to the forum as well. Just wondering what your brother has to say about the Pipistrel, they don't seem to be very common how do they compare?

    regards Bill

  14. trike or 3 axis

Thanks Blueshed, I guess it will be a trike as i think they are the simplest and most economical to 'put my toe in the water with' (or should that read head in the clouds) the cows are going well due to a pretty good late spring.

    Regards Bill

  15. just new here, several years ago i went up in a trike at porepunka and loved it got all the books and things needed to get a licence to fly the things but then my industry suffered a downturn (dairyfarming) so was unable to fund taking it any further. this season is going better, then i saw a trike on e-bay for 8k buy it now or best offer, it looked pretty good but being the carefull type i asked a couple of questions re what maintenance costs it had coming up etc and while waiting for the sellers reply he accepted an offer for less than 7k, the auction still had 6 days to run ! very dissapointed. never mind it got the juices going again so i think i'll take a trip back over the mountain again (i live close to the gippsland lakes) soon to further my flying ambitions. Its a pity there doesn't seem to be a school any closer to me. Anyway sorry to be so long winded, hope i can learn plenty from you guys

    regards Bill
