  1. Great work! Go Pros have great image quality - too bad I can't afford one...
  2. The Rotax certainly gives the Jab a power kick (especially in climb rate), but I chose to finish my flight training in it as I was struggling with my flares during circuit training. Compared to the conventional J160 I previously trained in, the Rotax J160 is significantly nose heavy, which tended to eliminate the ballooning issue I was developing on final approach.
  3. I've been doing some research, but for now I've decided to hold back on buying a headset. From what I've seen though, it seems that some manufacturers are installing ANR as a marketing gimmick (i.e. it's very poor quality ANR), so a PNR headset from a reputable manufacturer will be a lot more reliable on a low budget (think a Seinnheiser PNR headset, like this one http://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/av/headsets_antpass_senn/senns1p.php).
  4. Hey Steve, one more question - I assume there is no fuel bowser in the aerodrome but it says there is 98 unleaded 24/7, is that in the township?
  5. Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if any Murgon locals knew of a CTAF for YMRG? Weather permitting, I will be flying there on one of my navs tomorrow, and the airport is not listed in the ERSA or with great detail on the internet. Cheers.
  6. Ah ok, well I'm gonna keep an eye on that headset, thanks for advertising it!
  7. I always remember, altitude = time. If your engine fails straight after take-off, you can't afford to be too picky. With that said, its hard to make judgements about the landing field without an engine to help you inspect it (its a forced landing, not a precautionary landing). Your goal in a forced landing is to survive - landing without injury and a damaged aircraft is a bonus. I've heard heaps of stories about successful forced landings, if you can't learn through your own experience, learn through someone else's.
  8. Congrats! My first solo was great fun, but the aircraft flies differently with only a PIC onboard - I floated right down the runway.
  9. Just looked at the advertisement, what is the H10-12? I've heard of the H10-13.14..
  10. Hey everyone, I've been in training since July of last year, and I think it's time I invested in my own aviation headset. With my budget I am only interested in a PNR one, and I'm pretty interested in trying it on before I buy it (to make sure its comfortable). So do you guys know of any stores in SE QLD which sell aviation headsets? On that note, do you guys reckon its worth trying headsets on before committing to their purchase? Or in your opinion are they built to fit everyone comfortably? Cheers.
  11. I'm a casual RA-Aus pilot [HP, NW, HF, R, PAX] currently completing my cross-country training at Caboolture Aerodrome, with the hope of transiting to a PPL in the future. Training in a Jabiru J160C (w/ aftermarket Rotax engine). About 35 hours in the logbook - 20 dual, 15 solo. I am also studying aerospace avionics engineering at QUT full-time.
