  2. Hi All, Pilot Status: Student Goal: (RPC) Recreational Pilot Certificate, Flight School: Fly Now Redcliffe - http://www.fly-now-redcliffe.com/ Instructor: Peter Lefrancke Today's Aircraft: Tecnam P92 Eaglet (LSA) Lesson 06: Turning Back at YRED this morning for Lesson 06 in the Tecnam. Its Easter Monday, so Wayne my regular instructor is having a day off, so Peter drew the short straw, a beautiful day for flying, only a minor bit of cloud about in the training area whilst airborne, best part, managed to take some pictures. Completed my first Take Off today, RWY 25 departure, what a hoot!, Today's Lesson was all about Turning, there are 3 types of turns I have to learn, (1) Gentle Turn < 30° (level, climbing, descending) (2) Medium Turn 30° - 45° (level flight only) (3) level flight only) 60° (evasive action & training only) We did not do Steep Turns today, I will doing them a lot later on, Learning the turns was fun, finding that balance of aileron and rudder and applying the right amount of back pressure on the turns took me a couple of goes, but managed to nail it even to the point of getting the attitude, power and trim set right to have the plane enter into turns and fly itself After we landed, Peter and I sat down for the debrief, received some really good feedback, a couple of processes I did in-flight need some work, just need to apply a little bit more patience and not rush through some of the steps, I now have 5.1 Hours under my belt now, as Peter states, I have a good understanding on the content of each lesson and its now all about putting that knowledge into practice, Next flight in 2 weeks, cant wait! Thanks, Brent Next Flight - Monday the 11th of April Lesson 07: "Stalling"
  3. Hi All, Back at YRED this morning for Lesson 03, ( Climb & Descend ) with Peter Lefrancke from "Fly Now Redcliffe" in the Tecnam P92. Unfortunately Wayne was a bit crook today so I had my lesson with Peter, another overcast day, Clouds about with a couple of minor sprinkles of rain while we were airborne. Overall a good day for learning a Climbing and Descending Air Exercise utilizing L= Lookout, A = Attitude, P = Power and T = Trim around Bribie Island. It came in handy as we weaved around and climbed up and below to avoid the clouds, as the lesson progressed the weather started to clear a little, so we managed to stay up for over an hour. Even though I have not flown with Peter before, he was patient, explain things clearly and overall was a great instructor, I felt at ease with him just as I do with Wayne, overall he was happy with my progress, small criticism which I am only to happy to take on board, "in the air I was too quick to get on the Trim sometimes without getting the attitude right first" but overall Lesson 03 was a hoot..... I apologize for the one only picture, I was pretty much hands on today from start to finish, but I have thousands of mental pictures to remember the day by, next lesson in 2 weeks, Easter Monday, Lesson 04 ( Turning )
  4. Congratulations Rick, a great milestone to achieve Brent
  5. Hi All, Back at YRED this morning for Lesson 02, ( Straight and Level ) with Wayne from "Fly Now Redcliffe" in the Tecnam P92. Unfortunately another overcast, windy day with crosswinds and rain in the distance, we still managed to get up for about a hour, pottered around Bribie Island, Morayfield, Caboolture, Beachmere. I am starting to feel a lot more confident in the Tecnam now, I am progressing well overall according to Wayne, he is a great instructor, learning heaps, Lesson 03 in 2 weeks
  6. Also at YRED today, had my first lesson this morning with Wayne from "Fly Now Redcliffe" in the Tecnam P92, bumpy at 1500ft, climbed up to 2500ft, smooth as silk. Crosswinds on the landing but. Did my (TIF) in the SportStar and enjoyed flying the aircraft, but I really like the Tecnam now! next lesson in 2 weeks,
  7. Thanks Tony, the Missis stated "when are you going to get your head out of the clouds", and I promptly replied "not for a while, haven't been taught to get down yet! lol.

  12. Hi All, Had my (TIF) today at Redcliffe (YRED), very very windy but thanks to Wayne, my instructor at Fly Now Redcliffe, we manage to get some air time Wayne took us up in their Sportstar and taught me same basics regarding Effects of Controls, even with the constant buffering from the wind and a very scary crosswind landing, I've got the flying bug Going forward, the plan is to learn with their Tecnam P92, unfortunately I am a big bloke, so some diet and exercise is now also part of my learning to fly experience My mindset is go, just have to get the body to stop saying no, lol. Have been given homework for my next lesson, so now have to concentrate on achieving both goals Brent
